Great Vegetarian Cuisine

Wife and I went for an enjoyable lunch on a freezing sunny day in Queensboro Hill. The mildly spicy Chinese dishes warmed us up for the walk back home. We had kung pao and Gen Tso's "chicken" dishes which had consistency of the real deal; both included fresh vegetables and good sauces. We will... read more

Snuggled in between the old Jewish neighborhood of Flushing, Queens, which is now mostly Chinese and Asian, and Kew Gardens, Queens, which has a sizable Jewish community, is the hidden delight of kosher/vegetarian Jewish food, certainly also influenced by Dim Sum presentation. It's unique Its underrated. And it's delicious.

We went to Buddha Bodai this evening based on reviews from Trip Advisor. We had been meaning to go to Flushing for a while to try the Queens version of China Town, and we chose this place. The food was terrific. Not much atmosphere, but not bad either. This place is exclusively vegetarian. I had the spinach and corn soup... More

Good food. Not too busy. The most memorable part of our meal was that we had quite a bit left on our plates and a gentleman seated near us leaned over and asked if we might be interested in sharing our food. He wanted to try what we were having. Needless to say, we pushed our plates over and he... More

I came here for an evening meal with a non-veggie friend. It was a weeknight and wasn't at all busy. After being served a complimentary pot of tea, we chose a selection of dishes (steak with Chinese broccoli, garlic prawns, and spinach) to share. The mock meats were absolutely delicious, as were the sauces and veggies. I find Chinese a... More

A vegetarian friend suggested that we eat at Buddha Bodai. But, as a non-vegetarian, I was skeptical but was willing to give it a chance. When I checked into my hotel in Wall Street, I happened to mention my dinner plans to the desk clerk. It turned out she is a vegetarian, had a menu to give me, and told... More

I am reviewing the first Buddha Bodai vegetarian restaurant in China town, NYC. The address is 5 Mott street. Ny, 100013. Tel 2125668388 This restaurant opened nearly 10 years ago. It also calls itself a Kosher Chinese Cuisine. It serves dim sum as well as rice and noodle dishes. The dim sun is found in all the normal fare in... More

Buddha Bodai was definitely one of the best restaurants that we've eaten at! As a vegetarian, it was very nice to know that there was nothing I had to avoid. The sesame "chicken" was delicious, as were the dumplings and corn/spinach soup. The waiter even knew Hebrew!!! I would definitely recommend this hidden gem to vegetarians and non-vegetarians! I'm positive... More
