Best ice cream in New York

We've been going to Eddie's Sweet Shop for over 50 years. They still whip the cream by hand, and the ice creams are also homemade. The hot fudge sundae with maple walnut ice cream is my favorite. Seating is limited and the counter is over fill, as well. It seems to be most crowded after... read more

This is a classic soda parlor with bistro tables and a counter with stools. They make great shakes and such but the thing that impressed me was they make real Egg Creams! Hard to find those these days! Definitely worth a trip if you want to experience a throw back to the real deal.

Excellent ice cream, excellent toppings (overflowing onto the plate under the cup), the best whipped cream (seriously). Everything is made there except for the marshmallow and cones). Family owned and run--can't go wrong there. You will not find strange flavors (other than the pineapple-pistachio) and you might have to wait for a table, but it is worth it. Make sure... More

Great old fashioned ice cream parlor -- sundaes, malts etc. Homemade whipped cream. Wait can be a bit long on a summer Sunday -- but it is worth it. Near a movie theater (generally second run movies) if you want more to do. If you come from outside the neighborhood it is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the... More

Eddie's is an institution of ice cream In and around the forest hills zip codes. The fresh made butterscotch and ice cream always left me with another memory. However, the way that they make their shakes and malts is the way other companies should aspire to. I say when you go there, order whatever you like but remember when you... More

This ice cream shop reminds me of a place I went to when I was very young over 50 years ago in my home town. A quaint place with wooden stools at a counter, old fashion booths, and an area for lots of candy. The atmosphere is wonderful, & the shop is on its 4th owner, still making home made... More

My family and I go to Eddie's whenever we want to have ice cream that is prepared and tastes like you use to be able to get it years ago. The place is like stepping back in time (in a good way) and their ice cream is wonderful! Don't forget to have the whipped cream which they prepare fresh every... More

Like you stepped back in time-like nothing changed since it first opened! Same worn stools at the counter. The old refrigerator that stored the whipped cream was ancient. they even had an old time cash register. The ice cream was delicious, a bit of a wait. But the place was jammed.........Definitely worth a trip.

Set back in time when you visit Eddie's, sit at the counter and order yourself a homemade icecream sundae with fresh whipped cream and the best chocolate sauce. Forget about counting the calories ....it's so worth the indulgence!
