We took the ferry from Vermont to New York. It looked inviting so we stopped in. It was a little tricky finding the driveway. The young staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were seated in the shade near the water. Service was good. We had frozen drinks that were good. The food was good but nothing to rave about.... More

The Old Dock has a great location by the dock of the Essex ferry. Perfect for sharing a conversation with a drink in your hand. Lunch is also a good option with relatively reasonable prices. Our dinners were less successful, the flatbread app was very good however. My spouse had to send her chicken back because it was not grilled... More

Had a nice lunch with my wife and sons here on Father's Day. My wife and I shared the Cubano sandwich! It was very good! We also ordered calamari and hot wings for appetizers. Beautiful view right next to the ferry dock.

The view's the thing. We sat outside by the dock. The ferry and sailboats provided ever-changing scenery. Service was prompt. I took the server's recommendation and ordered the beer-battered fish and chips. I chose a delightfully spicy cocktail sauce instead of the tartar sauce. The fish and chips were good. My husband had the baked scrod, which he said was... More

Got two drinks at bar and got menus and went to sit on deck to order food. Waited about 15 mins. and asked someone about getting a server. This time we asked the hostess for a server. Waited another long time and finally walked out. I did express my displeasure to the hostess. No view is worth this.

Went for a late lunch during mid-July. Got a table by the water with shade. Best part. New England Clam chowder was OK. The fish fry wasn't. Overly breaded and the coating was still uncooked on the inside. Good selection of draft beers. I wouldn't go if I was going to eat inside. Service was attentive and pleasant. So five... More

The Old Dock Order a brew Enjoy the view Skip the stew This is one of 20 short poems about my summer home town of Essex. There are two other restaurants, a deli, and an ice cream shop in town, all quite good.

A group of 5 of us visited The Old Dock House on a Monday night. We were greeted by 2 young hostesses who were busy on their cell phones when we arrived. We sat outside and waited at least 20 minutes for the server to arrive. There were just a few other tables, so we didn't quite understand the wait.... More

The Old Dock has a great lake view. The food is very average.....some things like the burgers are ok. The service can be pretty slow, but you get to watch the lake while you are waiting for service.
