Worth a Trip; Spectacular View

Had a holiday dinner here on July 3 with 92-year-old mother and five others. We were welcomed and seated promptly in the rather cavernous dining room. The waitress told us as soon as she came for the drink orders that one of the night's specials was limited. Because of this, we were able to ask the... read more

A most picturesque location. On a hill with, based on the season, outstanding views. The menu and food are generally good. This restaurant also does have at least occasional regular entertainment which adds to the total experience.

After reading several reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to go to this lovely place. When we got there we were anticipating a delightful dinner since the place was packed on a Wednesday night. Our first mistake was not sitting outside where the view over the valley was great. So I blame us for that one. Our server was very... More

Stopped in at the Hill Top because my wife heard it had such great food. One would think with the average price of a meal being over $22.00, that it would be more of a fine dining establishment. The waiters/waitresses wear green T-shirts that say Hill Top Inn, and one server wore Carhart pants. The waitress over poured my beer... More

We are very sorry you didn't enjoy your experience here at Hill Top Inn. As the owner, I did stop by to check on your meals and did replace the au jus for you. A true au jus does use pan drippings as a base which is what we did serve you originally. As you did not prefer that, I... More

We got married at Hill Top and have many fond memories of that beautiful day. When we're in town, we make sure to go back! A few weeks ago we went back to celebrate our 7th anniversary and it was still as delicious and memorable as always. We had the horseradish Salmon and Lamb Chops with panzanella salad... all fresh... During a recent business trip to our plant in Elmira my work friends had taken us to this fine dinning establishment. The Delmonico Steak was delicious, done to perfection. The view from the outside deck was great as the sun set over Elmira. I highly recommend stopping bu if you are ever in the area. Thanks Steve.

The Hilltop Inn on Jerusalem Hill in Elmira, NY has it all. It's been in the Michael (current owner/operator) Sullivan family for decades. It has a breathtaking view of the Chemung Valley, it offers a variety of seating options AND the food is incredible. My favorite, the langoustinos and their house special, the au gratin potatoes, are to "live for".... More

I like this place. It has everything I look for in a restaurant; good food, good service in a great atmosphere and appropriate prices. What I don't look for in a restaurant is for it to be something it's not. Hill Top Inn is not a modern, experimental restaurant where the food is served as an sculpture in the middle... More

The food was par and the service was very slow. 6 couples, 5 really enjoyed their meals and 3 disliked totally and 4 said it was ok. Expensive, the view was awesome.

The bar area and view are quite lovely. However, the large dining room is just a huge room with tabes and no decor! The food is average. Some nights good, others not. Depends on who is in the kitchen I guess. If you go, you go for the view.
