Dine in Colonial East Hampton

This is the sedate restaurant of East Hampton but with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff and a serious chef. The wine list is extensive although on the expensive side (but this is East Hampton). The dishes are well prepared and attractively presented. The atmosphere of the main dining room... read more

After reviewing the menu online I expected more of the farm fresh taste. Maybe this Oklahome farm boy is just spoiled because I know what grain fed Angus tastes like and they didn't hit the mark. Don't get me wrong it was a fine meal and I would return, but the local organic free range line is nothing more than... More

Fine dining upstairs specializing in local-sourced fish and produce; less fussy fare in the downstairs tavern (probably a speakeasy in the 1920s). Meat, fish, poultry and at least one vegan entree upstairs. Good meatloaf and more downstairs.

Never had a bad meal there. Old fashioned/up to date restaurant. Cozy, somewhat sophisticated, not cheap but worth it for a relaxing meal, gets you away from the fray of the town. Go there if you can.

We went to 1770 House for a special dinner. The food was absolutely fantastic. We started with a fluke tartare. Then had the chilled pea soup with lump crab meat. We finished with a veal porterhouse steak. Everything was cooked to perfection. The sommelier was very friendly and knowledgeable. The entire evening was a complete delight. I would definitely go... My wife and I have visited the Hampton's many times over the years, but had never tried the 1770 House for dinner. We were celebrating our 47th anniversary, and friends suggested it was the perfect venue for a quiet, romantic dinner. It was perfect, on every level. It was a mild and lovely evening, and we sat outside on the... More

Dined here in every season, upstairs by the fireplace in winter, and down in the pub more often...for years. Last time there, may be just that. Our waiter literally disappeared mid-meal. My client wanted a drink. Im unnerved. 15 minutes later, a pinch-hitter. Cut to: Check Comes and dinner for 3 was $400.

I was lucky enough to be taken to this restaurant by my daughter as part of a Mother's Day gift. And I certainly was not disappointed. The food and service was tip top. The surroundings both inside and outside the restaurant were so elegant. We were fortunate to be there on a warm June evening and the staff made us... More
