Good food, quaint setting

The 1770 Hose Restaurant is a good choice for a quality meal. Housed in a historic house on East Hampton's Main street, the interior is quaint & charming. A gas fired fireplace is ablaze in cold weather. The service is professional. The noise level was modest and diners are not seated "on top" of... read more

Decided to have desert at the Maidstone in East Hampton instead of at the mediocre restaurant we had dinner at. Parked my car closer to the 1770 House. Why go any further? Let's go in and have our desert there. Definitely the right choice. Greeted by the most charming hostess who escorted us down to the tavern room area with... More

In the heart of East Hampton village, this restaurant and inn offers old world charm, intimate dining or a pub downstairs in the rathskeller. Love the ambience! Perfect place to have a special meal....service is excellent. Food is delicious. Definitely worth the reservation necessary.

We have been going to 1770 House for years, usually on special occasions such as Valentines, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, anniversaries and birthdays. In 2014 we ate there 6-8 times. We usually dine in the Tavern which is cozy, with a fireplace and a nice historic feel, a wonderful cold weather dining room. During the warmer months, the main dining room... More

I like the downstairs pub. It's small but warm and comfy. Two rooms with wood and brick and a fireplace. Nice in cooler weather. You can get everything from a burger to a full meal. Local seafood , pastas , ceaser salad, etc. Something for everyone. And since it's the Hamptons its above average quality and prices.

Sophisticated yet cozy and unpretentious, this establishment offers not-so-small portions of well-prepared dishes. I would not say the dishes are memorable or that it meets my high standards as a Michelin-Star fanatic and food snob, BUT this place is the best one we have found in East Hampton so far and certainly worth a visit. The service was attentive but... More

This is a a truly fine dining experience . From making the reservation on the phone (easy) to being greeted by the two charming hosts, everything works. I have been fortunate to eat here many times over the past decade but bringing the kids and seeng them treated well merited a review. Michael Cohen is the 'Front of House' or... More

We ate downstairs and had a fantastic time. It felt like we were in a 1770 tavern, but with very sophisticated, fabulous food! Loved it!

In my view, it's the best place to eat in EH. The tavern is cozy, especially in winter. The staff is charming.
