an inn with a small intimate dining room. Wonderful service and excellent food. They also have a bar/blurger type restaurant in the basement.

Had wonderful dinner @1770 ---- what I call the basement of restaurant. Lamb done perfectly for my wife. The Scallops seared to perfection for my friends. The cheesecake with coffee ended a fine meal. Just loved downstairs for quiet & cozy dinner group.

Over the years, we have enjoyed special occasion meals at 1770 House. However, last night was a disappointment. I ordered the special, which was a lobster ravioli. It was described as fettucine with lobster and a heavy cream sauce. It was not. The sauce was quite watery. Little to no trace of cream. The pasta did not resemble fettucine. It... More

We have enjoyed 1770 House for special occasions, especially Spring-Fall-Winter, because the atmosphere is so homey and historic. We just came back from a $300+ Thanksgiving dinner that was truly lackluster. We had a 2:45 reservation and were running 15 minutes late, so we called and were told that was fine, however they "will need the table back by 4:45".... More

We returned here after a two year gap very excited to eat in the Tavern, the first time we waited 20-30 minutes for the table which was annoying as we booked 2 weeks ahead but we let it go, dinner was a burger and a meat loaf plus two glasses of wine all for the princely sum of $100 including... The service was professional and prompt and our every need was addressed. The special salmon tartare appetizer was wonderfully seasoned and delectable. The rack of lamb was expertly paired with a corn risotto that was both flavorful and enjoyable. For dessert, a ricotta cheesecake with a hazelnut crust. On our next visit to East Hampton we will surely be back... More

Although the setting in an old historic house on the Main Street of East Hampton is special and the service friendly and attentive, the food doesn't measure up. A Beet & Cucumber Salad and a Lobster Bisque were great. However, the main courses were fair at best. Pulled Pork in a Crepe was lackluster and grilled salmon with a corn... More

We wanted something really special for our anniversary weekend. 1770 House was perfect! The food was amazing. I had the salmon tartare special appetizer. It was so delicious that I could have eaten a double order as dinner and been happy. My husband had some wonderful oysters. Ours dinners were also fantastic. I had the rack of lamb with lobster... The atmosphere was perfect for a chilly fall night…dark and cozy. The service was good. The food was just OK, nothing special. We did have a nice cheese plate, but for $24 for a TINY amount of 3 different little cheeses and some crostini, it should be good.

We went to this restaurant to have a birthday dinner and had a lovely time. For drinks, we had Cosmopolitan and Margarita which were nice. We are vegetarians - Golden beetroot salad with blue cheese was okay, veg fettucini was pretty good, side of sauteed mushrooms (shiitake, miitake, oysteri) was delicious and dessert of apple crisp with pistachio gelato and...
