Amazing Dinner and Ambience

I went there with my spouse to celebrate my 67th birthday. 1st time having dinner there in 27 years. Amazing Dinner and lively ambience. Pricey but worth every penny!!!!!! I had the fois gras as an appetizer. It was exquisite to look at and to eat. Perhaps the best appetizer I have ever eaten... read more

We decided to try out the "Tavern" part of the Restaurant and it was a pleasant surprise. Very cozy. The bar only had 4 stools but that was okay , made it even better as it was very close and personal. There is a large fireplace , which seems like it would be a great setting for those cold winter... excellent meal; I had whitefish appetizer - excellent, with wasabi flavoring, Asian slaw, very tasty - Mike had beet salad - beautifully presented, very tasty and fresh; veal porterhouse was great - LOVED the underlying risotto; my husband had seabass with lobster sauce - well prepared, sauce was delicious, fish very fresh; desserts were awesome

The food here was very good, although also quite pricey, but everything in the Hamptons is expensive.

Booking a reservation in The Tavern downstairs is a must. Not only is it more of an intimate and relaxed setting, the menu is more extensive (including the burger & meatloaf---> 2 must haves!). The drink menu didn't fail to impress either. Keep in mind, the area is only allowed a max of 14 people, but the service is impeccable... More

We've been eating at 1770 for 10 years. We love the downstairs pub room. Especially on a cold night, it welcomes with warmth and and limited menu of comfort food. (You can also order from the upstairs menu in the pub.) The main dining room offers superb service, delicious food, and an authentic colonial feel-but never cutsey. The hidden gem... More

We were in the Hamptons for the first time, and of all the meals we enjoyed (including a delightful evening of great food and service at Nic and Toni's - you must try the Tartufo dessert!), our evening here at the 1770 House was memorable on every level. The outdoor patio was beautiful. Make sure you call the day of... More

This is the sedate restaurant of East Hampton but with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff and a serious chef. The wine list is extensive although on the expensive side (but this is East Hampton). The dishes are well prepared and attractively presented. The atmosphere of the main dining room is intimate and warm. The downstairs cellar restaurant (also attractive,... More

After reviewing the menu online I expected more of the farm fresh taste. Maybe this Oklahome farm boy is just spoiled because I know what grain fed Angus tastes like and they didn't hit the mark. Don't get me wrong it was a fine meal and I would return, but the local organic free range line is nothing more than... More

Fine dining upstairs specializing in local-sourced fish and produce; less fussy fare in the downstairs tavern (probably a speakeasy in the 1920s). Meat, fish, poultry and at least one vegan entree upstairs. Good meatloaf and more downstairs.
