The main stay. A great and consistent meal every time. Excellent presentation with dollops of yummy sweet potato and beans. Staff is great and Sammy comes out of the kitchen to say hello, just like Max did. Small and tight. Not for a young loud core. Civilized dining.

It's a real pleasure to find a quality restaurant where you can get an appetizer and entree for two in the $50-range. Been there twice now, and both times impressed with the attention to detail in the preparation and with the excellent service. Small, very personal, unpretentious restaurant. Love this place. A real find.

This restaurant has been around for years! It has recently changed hands, but nothing has changed! The menu is the same and the food is just as delicious as it always was. The newest owner, Sammy, worked at Cafe Max for many years under the former owner, Max. On certain weekday nights they offer a discounted Prix fixe. We recently... More

Their prixe fixed dinner is an excellent buy, with a wide range of selections. Consistently good food with service to match.

Ate here the other night. Food good, waitress (Gwen) efficient. Hadn't been here in years. Worth a stop if driving on Route 27 in East Hampton.

After being turned away by other snooty restaurants because we didn't have a reservation, we were graciously taken in at Cafe Max. Friendly service, delicious food and reasonably priced. My husband and I were very happy. Potato leak soup was perfect. I ordered Chilean bass off the price fix menu. The woman who seated us reminded me of Lidia from... More

We had dinner on a cold, wet, winter night recently. We came for their $23.00 two course prix fix, but ended up ordering ala carte. My wife ordered the flounder and I the Tuna and both were excellent, probably as good as it gets out here. My wife had asked them to cook the flounder with no butter but blackened... More
