Lively and fun with great food!

My wife and I had no idea where to eat while passing through Cortland recently and just by chance stopped in at Hairy Tony's. We were very glad we did. While other places we passed seemed to cater more to the college crowd, most of the clientele at Hairy Tony's seemed a little older. That isn't... read more

College town...college is now out. Wife and I decide not to make the drive out of Cortland and to keep it "local". A cruise down Main St. and we passed 3 other restaurants. In the past we have had great service, value and a real feel that they care when they ask how is your meal?( at Harry/Tonies). Well.....Porterhouse steak, nothing... More

Had dinner one Friday night recently when in town for a game at SUNY Cortland. Great bar and food, and fun atmosphere. The next day, Tony personally took care of catering a tailgate at SUNY Cortland for 70 people and could not have been more helpful. We called him the night before which didn't give him much time to pull... More

Had an amazing selection. Portions were good sized...some may think it's a little pricey (not much more than avg) for some things compared to other restaurants but they do give you a good portion. Being it is located right next to a popular college bar, I never thought of going here while visiting my daughter at college, but I have... More

We arrived at Hairy Tony's late for dinner and expected a bit of a wait since SUNY Cortland had their open house that day. The manager/owner was very nice and apologetic and the staff were friendly. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would definitely go back.

Not sure how to describe Hairy Tony's. The menu is a little different. Order the calamari appetizer and it would serve a table of 4, the same with the fries. They come on a pizza tray. Huge portions, and very good.

We had dinner here on a vey busy Saturday night. The manager, who I'd guess may be the owner, spoke with us three times. First, he apologized for the wait (which actually wasn't that bad); then as we were seated he explained that the kitchen was unusually busy with that evening's crowd and to please be patient, they'd do the... This was the first time at this restaurant. Food was very good. Nachos appetizer was huge. We were 5 people and we did not finish it. Pulled pork sandwich was really good. It is a place we will be going back too.

With family in the Cortland area, this is my favorite place to go and have a meal and a few drinks. The decor inside kind of reminds me of something that you would see in the Seattle area. It has a turn of the century nautical theme...brass and chalkboards for the menus. They have a huge selection of craft beers... More

Fantastic beer choices. Love the beer flights. Great recommendation from a friend. Food was very good and arrived quickly. Feels like and is a bar but much better. They had some really interesting specials. I'd make the trip if you are staying anywhere in surrounding area. Prices very reasonable. Owner was a hoot and very gracious. We will come back.
