This is a great local restaurant. I suggest the "Carolina Burger", a hamburg with pulled pork and coleslaw on top!! Sweet potato fries are good also.

This was my third or fourth experience eating at this restaurant. On at least two previous occasions the service was slow and there was glass and plastic in my food. When I complained I was given new food, not a discount. But, it had been a year, so I thought I would give it another shot for lunch. The menu... More

If you love burgers (or meat for that matter) made the way you want, this is the place to go. Every trip to Watkins Glen includes a trip to Corning for the burgers at 54. If I want a burger rare, they make it rare. Still cool in the middle! And seared perfectly on the outside. This is the only... More

I love visiting this restaurant for many reasons. One of my reasons I love this place is because it's on Market Street among the various shops and cafes that are all full of life and character. Another reason I love eating here is because of the great variety of food on the menu. Any kind of burger you could imagine;... More

If you like burgers you will love this place they have a huge selection of custom burgers. It is my favorite place for burgers in the Corning-Elmira area. If they came with fries instead of chips I would give it 5 stars! The decor is pretty cool some might not like it but do. The owner is there alot and... More

Right in the heart of Corning, NY on W. Market is a small restaurant that is best known for its burgers. On a nice day they can open front windows so you feel like you are outside. Pretty decent beer selection but so-so wine list.

We have been to Holmes Plate on at least 8-10 occassions. It's easy to be sucked in with the open windows and bar-b-que smoke wafting onto the sidewalks. It smells heavenly! While we've never had a bad experience with the waitstaff or the owner, as has been mentioned in other reviews of the restaurant, I would like to mention something... More

The food was good, hot and big. There's seating in the bar area or just beyond depending on your feelings about that. The burger was good, as was the pulled pork. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Our waitress was uber slow though, at one point we wondered whether we should go up to the bar and check on our... More

Wasn't sure what to expect - despite their claims about great barbecue and unique sauce - but I was very pleasantly surprised by my meal at Holmes Plate. The pulled pork was absolutely fantastic, and the brisket was good as well. Add in a good, fresh salad, slaw and cornbread, and I was a happy camper. The sauce was as... More
