I've been going to the Hall of Fame for many years now and always make it a point to eat at TJ's Place. Main Street in Cooperstown is not restaurant row. You might be on a short vacation looking for the usual amenities, but when it comes to food, lower your expectations. Once you do that, you will certainly enjoy... more

We stopped in with the family on a recommendation from the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce. We did expect much better with that kind of referral. We found it to be dirty inside and the staff looked rough for such a nice area of Cooperstown. All the food was way overpriced and had a very poor presentation when served. The food was OK... more

TJ's Place is a 150 seat family restaurant in business for twenty years. The menu is printed clearly and all prices and comments are posted. Being in the restaurant business for twenty years I have learned that rules are a necessity. TJ's restaurant serves 250 to 1000 customers each day. TJ's restaurant does not charge for tap water, however we...

When I went there with my family, we were seated by the big screen TV near the bathrooms, the smell seeped out to our table; it was like being next to a sewer. The first thing you notice is the upswept floors and on the menu all the rules it lists and then the overly priced food. Our waitress was... more

I asked how big the philly cheese steak was, because i was hungry. She said, "Its a good portion." What a joke, it was a slice of overcooked steak um with american cheese on a glorified hot dog bun. There was a pickle on the plate though. I ate a whole side of fries and my neighbor's chicken parm sandwich... more

I live in Cooperstown and I have been to TJ's restaurant before. However, this past weekend I received the worst service ever. The waitress was very rude! Not only the waitress but the owner made it clear to me that she does NOT care about her customers. The owner only cares about the business side of things. I would not... more

Went to Cooperstown during the off season (Feb. 13-15) and when we arrived on Friday night we went blindly to Main Street and just picked this restaurant. First of all they charge for tap water! No free refills on soda. I had chicken fingers and my boyfriend had a cheeseburger. We each had a slice of pie. All of this... more

Food with an "attitude". Menu clearly states, and servers are quick to emphasize, you cannot do separate checks. Menu also states when you order your meat cooked the way you like it and are not satisfied with it when you are served, you must still pay for it. The food was average, the service was average, and the prices were... more

I live about 10 minutes from Cooperstown but like many other locals, do not go to many of the "tourist" restaurants and attractions. But, my boyfriend and I received a gift card for TJ's that gave us two free dinners so we went to eat there in July of 08, right in the middle of the tourist season. I am... more

We went there one night just for dessert - had coffee and pie ala mode. That was nice. It's a combination gift shop and diner. Lots of Baseball Memorbilia - TV's so we could watch the playoff games which was nice. We also stopped again for sandwiches another night - got burger and fries, which were about average. Some people... more

Do you like flies with your meals? Well that's what you get hovering over your plate when you eat the horrible food. We ordered roast turkey- it came smothered in thick, white gravy over everything. The turkey was passable, the mashed potatoes and carrots were like something you would get in an old-age facility for dinner- tasteless and bland. The... more
