Just visited this place based on the reviews on Trip advisor. The owner was super friendly. I thought it was cute that I had to sign a disclaimer before I tried the hot chili. I was glad I tried it first. I wound up going with the harvest bounty chili which was very good. I'm glad we went. I probably... More

Decided to take the scenic route from Skaneateles to Saratoga via Rte 20. Stopped at the Tepee gift shop. A place my husband visited as a boy some 50 years ago. Brought back a lot of memories. Couldn't leave without a 7 peppers chili shot. Loved it! Signed the waiver and got some to take home. Was a pleasure to... More

I am from Western SD and have travelled significantly and had chili from all over. This is some of the best there is. The overtones and complexity of the "heat" is terrific but not overwhelming. I had mine with a quesadilla. The owner is your cook and server, and the whole experience was delightful; a plus in this day and... More

Tepee Pete is hilarious and entertaining, and I think he has the best chili in NY State. The 7 pepper chili shooter (free) is VERY spicy but still flavorful. If you try it, you get to sign the book and read the reactions of others who have tried it from all over the world. Pete created a special grilled chicken... More

I tried the 7 pepper chili shooter as a starter. It is hot. Not unbearable, but hot. Our bill of fair ended but being a chili cheese dog, a half order of the Nachos Supreme (Grande), and a bacon cheese burger. The Nachos were amazing. We opted for a blend of the 7 pepper and the mild and it was... More

Love love love this place! Ordered the food, and Pete said we could walk around the gift shop while he cooks the food (he would ring the dinner bell when it was ready). We had a chili cheese dog, two dogs with grilled onions, fries with cheese and bacon, and the FAMOUS hot chili. The boyfriend had to sign a... More

I have been there about six times, I think........but I never tried the chili because either the Chow Wagon was not open or I had already eaten lunch. Anyways, I LOVE this great gift shop and I just love the kitchiness of this roadside stop. After reading the great reviews here on tripadvisor, I am determined to have the chili... More

We connected with Pete and his infamous chili at the "Garlic Festival" just outside Sharon Springs, NY. What a treat! A little sweet, a little spicy, a little garlicy but all delicious!

It isn't just that the chili is great, both my 7-pepper chili with the perfect balance of heat and flavor, and my wife's harvest chili (sweetened with apples to lower the intensity a notch); it's that the sample cups are free but the fork costs a quarter :>. You don't just get an explanation of the menu; you get lots... More

I usually stop off at the Tepee to get gifts or bring along friends who are visiting since it's quite unique, and they have wonderful Indian artifacts, jewelry, homemade soaps, incense, and, of course, Minnetonka moccasins. I had heard of Pete's chili but had never tried it. I ordered a chili dog and a chicken quesadilla, thinking it was not... More
