Okay, who is in charge here? Whoever they are, they should be lashed with 10,000 noodles. Yes, we were on a chartered bus trip but does that mean we get only the leftovers? Granted, the bread basket was refilled several times, but that was because we made that request so we wouldn't be hungry all night. I had ordered the... More

We sat at the "Community Table" and always had great conversations. The food was good and we also had great conversation with the servers.

We have had dinner at the hotel before. Our experience has been the prices are outrageous, the food passable, and the service poor. We had read that there is a new farm to table restaurant open Friday and Saturday night. The reviews were favorable. We went. The portions were very small. My wife found her chicken difficult to eat and... More

We made a dinner reservation for 7pm for a Sunday evening. Never were we told it is ONLY Buffet on Sunday. When we arrived we ordered a glass of wine each. Waiting for a menu. After about 15 minutes the waitress came by. We were then told the buffet is over at 7:30. ALL of the food was depleted and... More

A bunch of my foodie friends excitedly tried the new Restaurant addition to the Atheneum. Namely. Bloom a farm to table experience. First off a meal with drinks and wine is about $100 per person. So when our main dish arrived with greens that seemed like the chef got involved in conversation and didn't stop pouring salt over these veggies... More

Dinner at Blooms at the Athenaeum Hotel was extremely disappointing. One dinner was well prepared. Another dinner was almost inedible - a few mushrooms and pieces of rabbit as a sauce over pappardelle for $36. This dish was advertised on the menu as roasted rabbit. Service was spotty and there was a high noise level in the dinning room making... More

The dinner and breakfast we had while staying at the hotel were very good. We had a steak one night and enjoyed a breakfast buffet the next morning.

The formal dining room at the Athenaeum Hotel on the grounds of the Chautauqua Institute is magnificent. Excellent food prepared by a world-class chef - dining in style, meaning semi-formal style. Truly dress-up for dinner. It is fun. Try it! The dining is real white tablecloth dining the old fashioned way. Experience what it was like for travelers at the... More

Stayed at the Athenaeum for a conference. The package included all meals during the conference. The food was served as a buffet. The amount of food available was generous and there was sufficient variety. Some dishes were very nice while others lacked taste. A short conversation with the chef indicated that the kitchen staff needed to learn more about how... More

The place is cool, it has so much history, how could you not like it. We went there for breakfast, it was served and tasted OK. Mass food processing so not like it was made just for you. But, just being there was really great knowing who was served there before you. Everyone in the area should experence the institute... More
