This place has a nice upper outdoor level deck that over looks the lake. It's a nice place for dinner on a warm summers evening. The food is usually pretty good. They also host wine and cooking classes.

This was our first visit to the NY Wine & Culinary Center, and WOW, were we impressed! This place is everything cooking-and-eating combined, and I could see taking advantage of those parts that we missed tonight in our next visits. My friend had told me that this was a place to get great food at a slightly above-average price. He... More

This facility is quite impressive, with the tasting room, gift shop and bistro. We took a 'Lunch and Learn' class, which was most informative and highly recommended if you have time. We were all impressed with the beautiful facility that showcases the wines and beers of New York State.

Fun, one hour course on tasting food with wine. Did not have to cook, just taste and learn! A fun couple thing to do.

Food and wine here are excellent. Dinner Menu is short, but good. Truffle fries are amazing! Steak dish was one of the best I've had in years. Vegetarian portabello schnitzel dish and seafood soup good too. Maybe serve less bun/bread on the veggie dish. The service is where I have a gripe or two. The welcome is not sincere, but... More

Any visitor to the Canandaigua area will find that The Upstairs Bistro at the New York Wine and Culinary Center (NYWCC) is a place to enjoy well prepared, interestingly presented and original New York State food and beverage pairings. With its staff well-informed on regional beers, wines and foods, there are opportunities to learn about the regional food industry as... More

We had dinner in the Upstairs Bistro. It was moderately busy but our service was extremely prompt and good, unlike other reviews. Having struggled to find somewhere good to eat in Canandaiguia, this stood out. Nicely decorated, warm woods, felt classy but informal. Good wines and beers, we only had pizzas but they were good. Nice way to round off... More

This was our second visit having dined here about three years ago. This visit was nothing like the first. The service was so slow, It ruined the entire evening. The food was good but when it takes that long, the quality of the food really doesn't matter. It wasn't as if the place was packed. There was obviously a problem... More

I just found out that my wife and I missed a class that we signed up and paid for. They did not send us any confirmation either by email, snail mail nor by phone. I am really upset that we paid $150 and got nothing for it. They say no refunds and even though they cannot confirm that they send... More

First off, let me say my parents took a cooking class here and loved it. That seems to be the consensus from what I hear: the cooking classes are great, the restaurant sucks. My parents had been there with friends before it was "revamped"; it was an all around bad experience: poor service, so-so food, overpriced. I went over the... More
