Authentic Cooking

Four of us were there for lunch on a Saturday. It was quite busy but we were seated right away (I'll make a reservation next time.) The fried calamari which we shared were excellent. We ordered one house salad and also shared it. It was enough for all of us as a second appetizer course. I had... read more

I enjoyed myself, the food was fresh and good, but I found the dishes seemed a bit contrived and a little disappointing. The service was great and the atmosphere was inviting. There was just something missing with the dishes we ordered, they good but not outstanding. However I would definitely return for a second go round.

Last Sunday went to the Fordham Basketball game then had dinner at Tra Di Noi (based on the reviews on TA). Have to say was disappointed. Food was simply not that good. Not tasty, didn't present as freshly prepared. Have eaten at a number of other Arthur Avenue restaurants over the years, feel that there are many other better choices... More

It was our lucky day that after visiting the zoo we happen to exit on the Southern Blvd/Belmont neighborhood side. We were headed up to the Botanical Gardens but we were starving. After a quick Yelp I noticed a bunch of restaurants in the area. "Hmmm" I said, " Seems to be a lot of Italian restaurants" Well, not only... More

The lasagne was not good. It was layered pasta with meat sauce- no detectable cheese or filling. Was not offered parmesan cheese for topping; no butter provided with bread- until we requested. We loved this place on first visit- guess this entree was the wrong choice. Very nice atmosphere; fun area too- Little Italy

Our lasagna is not the traditional Italian American lasagna. It is prepared "Bolognese" (Northern Italian style) - several layers of thin, fresh pasta layered with Bolognese sauce and béchamel cream. Since it is topped with mozzarella and already dressed with cheese we don't offer cheese unless a guest specifically requests it. Our bread is served with imported olive oil -... More

Every couple of months my husband and I visit Little Italy to restock our cupboard. This includes a few favorite specialty stores and the market. We make a point to stop at a different restaurant each trip for lunch before heading back to Connectiut. Yesterday, we stopped in at Tra Di Noi. There were several empty tables; but, we were... Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. To address your concerns: after checking, we had a large amount of reservations that day which is why the server was unable to offer you an alternate table. Our tripe dish is usually prepared on the 'chewy' side because we have a large number of customers who come just for... More

We've been to this place twice in the past year and were completely satisfied each time. The menu is on the small side but they always have many specials to choose from. This is not your typical Arthur Ave(it's on 187) tourist spot, they serve authentic Italian dishes. Would be nicer if they had a full bar though.

So glad you enjoyed your meal! Wish we had a full bar also but we're only allowed a limited license because of our proximity to the Church across the street (NYS Liquor Law). We do have a great wine list and several domestic and Italian beers to choose from. Hope to see you again! More

I would never in my life order meatballs at a restaurant but it was Sunday it was the special. They were unbelievable! I tried the veal Parmesan too - unbelievable! I tried the lasagna too and it was great! Eat everything you can and enjoy!

We had lunch here while visiting Fordham U. It was a short walk from the school to the restaurant and based on the TA reviews looked like a great choice. The food was excellent and the day we were there they have many specials to choose from. If I was rating it just on the food it would be 5... More

So glad you enjoyed your meal here! We're sorry if you felt the service was less than stellar. Sometimes it does get quite busy and the servers cannot always make it back to every table (although of course they should). I'm not sure what time you were there but sometimes everyone comes in at once and it's difficult - rest... More

The food is superb, which you'd expect in this genuine New York Little Italy neighborhood. It is a small, simple, but authentic restaurant. I've eaten here many times, bringing business associates and friends. Waiters are friendly and accommodating. Not a particularly romantic spot, it has more of an atmosphere of a pizzeria, but the food is way beyond the ordinary.... More
