Born and raised in "Bimington", Sharkey's is an institution. It is the same now as it was almost 50 years ago when my parents would come here after a Saturday night out to load up on spiedies and steamed clams. As a teen, I spent many a Friday and/or Saturday night in the darkened booths in the back munching on... More

Go to Sharkey's to dive into the feel of Native Binghamtonians. It is delicious food, great prices, and simple atmosphere. Don't expect fancy. Don't expect catering service to your whim. And please don't hinge your hopes of a perfect special occasion here. My husband claims the pork spiedie was the best he has tasted. Simply marinated pork served on a... More

I grew up in this town, so there's always a "rose-coloured glasses" patina to this place, but after living in San Francisco for the last 30 years, I still stop in whenever I visit the Southern Tier. Their spiedies (look it up) are still quite good, the raw and steamed clams are fresh, tasty and quite the value at $5-something... More

I started going to Sharkey's in 1965, when I started college at Harpur College (now S.U.N.Y.) For a buck, you could--back then--have two spiedies and two bottles of Little Jenny, small bottles of Genesee Beer, often called panther piss. But it washed down the spiedies pretty well, was cheap, wouldn't get you drunk for the trip back to campus if... More

I've been going to Sharkeys since I was in college and it's always been the same place. Good spiedies, lousy furniture, decades old decor. But it was a local institution and you could count on the food and service to be consistently good, especially for the price. But today they ruined Father's Day. Our order, for 7 people, came out... Been going there since 1956, stop in when I go through Binghamton for clams and spiedies. Same owner all those years, same ambiance. A nice experience.

We drove from Hershey PA from an excerpt in Two for the Road and the Sterns must have just hit a better time for the "famous" spiedies. We all 3 ordered the pork, and while they were OK and unique, the meat was a bit dry and bland. BUT, the chili cheese fries, onion rings and jalapeno poppers were deep... More

My wife and I love this place! The clams are priced right and taste amazing! The spiedies are great along with the city chicken! The atmosphere is old and you can tell needs updating......but that would probably take away the historic feeling and in my opinion is not required.

A friend introduced me to Sharkey's as we drove through Binghamton this week. He had frequented the restaurant as a youngster, and wanted to introduce us to Sharkey's spiedies (sp?). We had pork spiedies and city chicken (also pork) for lunch. They were every bit as good as my friend claimed. They were not elegant, just tasty hunks of marinated,... More

I grew in Bingo and this place was the end all be all next to Lupo's (where I worked as a kid). You would think over Labor Day weekend they would be geared up for a little extra traffic? NO! We (a party of 2) waited over an hour for ONE spiedie, ONE city chicken and ONE basket of fries.... More
