I am a NYC 'snob.' What a surprise. Great service. Beautifully prepared food. We were a party of seven. Everyone enjoyed their food. Unfortunately, we won't be returning; my son has graduated from college.

I love the relaxed NYC bistro atmosphere, the waiters/waitresses are charming, Loren and Sean are pleasant to talk to, and it is one of my favorite places in town. However, the Tranquil has notes of excellence but it also has some odd lapses. I have had slow-cooked dishes like short ribs that were perfect but then more recently they seem... More

Tranquil is a teeny little restaurant near the baseball stadium in downtown Binghamton, which, as many locals might realize, is not the greatest of areas to share a meal. Further, it seems the food can be hit or miss. This was clear when we went with friends for our second visit (first was New Years' Eve, two years ago,) over... More

Even though this restuarant is off the beaten path, it's terrific. We had our son's graduation dinner here. The food was fabulous. We had the crab cakes and the Thai mussels for appetizers, both delicious. I had french onion soup also excellent. Our entrees, sirloin steak and the cod were very good.

This place is awful. The seared sirloin steak is like a piece of chuck roast over cooked. The Penne pasta and bacon dish taste like garbage, as I burp it up. I would avoid this place. Unless your into overpaying for a meal.

Okay I'm reluctant to review this as it deserves because I don't want to end up standing in line. I don't have time or $ to go to dinner at Tranquil but love their weekend brunches. You can still get dessert! And if you wait till noon you can also get a mimosa. Great omelettes. Amazing maple french toast. Free... More

We made reservations through the online system about five days in advance. Upon waiting to get seated we were informed the heat was broke and that it was going to be up and running in about 15-20 minutes...okay so no big deal we could wait a bit. It would have been nice to receive a call or email prior to... More

The mixed drinks are superb. The food is quite good but a bit expensive. The French onion soup is excellent. The short rib dinner was about average as the sauce was good but not special. We had a mushroom and spinach appetizer that was good, but could have used many more mushrooms.

When visiting Binghamton, we are always looking for a great place for a quiet family dinner. Our first visit to Tranquil was five months ago and it showed a lot of promise as a young restaurant that could grow into something really special. So we chose it for a special occasion on a recent Sunday, and made a reservation, although... More
