Just had dinner with my family, a little unsure when we walk but one of the most welcoming restaurants on long island. The food was awesome the onion fritters are a must, the lettuce wedge had a spicy twist. The steak jambalaya was very spicy and we worth it. Shrimp and fritters came with the best fries and you get... More

My son attends Tulane University in New Orleans so I have more experience than most New Yorkers with respect to Cajun food. I would rate this restaurant as excellent with an authentic feel. The restaurant is by no means upscale, but the good is great. The pan fried catfish was superb!

I'm not really sure what to make of the place. The dark atmosphere, plastic tablecloths with Hawaiian print, red lights strung all over the ceiling. Robert Irvine would have a field day - and not in a good way. The food? It was as disjointed as the decor. The server had one word for any menu item I inquired about.... More

This was one of my favorite restaurants in the 90's. We'd go several times/month. I was recently re-acquainted with The Bayou, and I'm so glad I was! The food is even better than I remember. Outstanding choices, authentic Cajun fare - with a wonderful down south atmosphere. The drinks were professionally prepared and cheerfully delivered! This is the best Cajun... More

Come to the Bayou if you don't have time for a trip to New Orleans. The drinks are great and the food is awesome. They make the best gumbo I've ever had. Their food is Hot so be prepared. Lots of fun at the Bayou and live music too.

The Bayou is by far the best Cajun place on the Island. My family and friends have been going for over ten tears and have always found the food, drinks, staff and atmosphere to be excellent. We have never had a bad experience and always look forward to going there. It'a a small mom and pop place where the waiters... More

I have been dining here for 17 years. We only go once a year now because we live an hour away. The food and service has always been excellent! The staff knows every item on the menu, and how hot it is and can always recommend a dish you will enjoy. Favorite drink is the Uptown Margarita. Sorry but there... More

I used to be a big fan of this restaurant. Years ago (about 15), you could count on The Bayou for quality New Orleans style food. Maybe 10 years ago, the chef left and opened up Big Daddys in Massapequa Park. That's where we go now as The Bayou's food and service are average at the best and Big Daddy's... More

I had the Shrimp & Grits. An excellent choice as it turned out! The shrimp was succulent, the grits were cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh. One sign of goodness is whether or not a reviewer would return. Not only will I return, I'll also order the same dish! My wife had the Cajun Chicken Maque Choax. It was... More

Out of all the Cajun places on Long Island the Bayou by far is the best of them. The staff is super fun and friendly, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is as close as you can get to NOLA! A Must!!!
