I used to be a big fan of this restaurant. Years ago (about 15), you could count on The Bayou for quality New Orleans style food. Maybe 10 years ago, the chef left and opened up Big Daddys in Massapequa Park. That's where we go now as The Bayou's food and service are average at the best and Big Daddy's... More

I had the Shrimp & Grits. An excellent choice as it turned out! The shrimp was succulent, the grits were cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh. One sign of goodness is whether or not a reviewer would return. Not only will I return, I'll also order the same dish! My wife had the Cajun Chicken Maque Choax. It was... More

Out of all the Cajun places on Long Island the Bayou by far is the best of them. The staff is super fun and friendly, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is as close as you can get to NOLA! A Must!!!

My husband and I went with friends for what is so called " New Orleans" cuisine. First, my husband ordered the down county stew which was a special. The meat was so dry he could not eat it. I tried it and the stew meat must have been sitting there for days. That's how tough it was. My husband called... More

If you go with someone who does not like spicey food, there are few choices. Gumbo good, Shrimp and grits ok. Not many beers to choose from. The on the house table item they give you instead of bread is six slices of cucumber with french dressing drizzled over it.

We have been going to the Bayou for years. We have never been disappointed. Great food and drinks, and eveyone that works there is great. This is a can't-go-wrong restaurant!

We ordered: Hurricane- Pretty good, although a little on the expensive side (expected) Gumbo- Actually very good, spicy and hit the spot Jambalaya- Pretty good. It was a tad dry, but still tasty. Grits- Decent with the gravy Fries with gravy-not bad Blackened Chicken- Excellent,... More

My Husband and I were fans of The Bayou, we hadn't been there in a few years, and decided to go back last night with friends, it was awful! My steak and side dish was cold, didn't bother saying anything to the waitress, because she was in a very bad mood. We asked for separate checks, NO, that was a... More
