A friendly place for family and friends. The German-style food is good and a reminder of days gone past. And reasonably priced.

Although they had a turkey special on Thanksgiving, why in the world would anyone go to such a nice German restaurant and order turkey? Their usual German cuisine is truly outstanding. I'll start out by saying this place is so darn friendly. From the moment you are greeted at the front door, to the bus boy, to the waitress, to... More

My wife and I visited the Oak Chalet with a group of old friends just a few weeks ago -- we had been there several times over the years, but could hardly be considered regulars. I remember the food and decor as being pleasant, but this time around we were all disappointed. The menu was essentially unchanged, with assorted German... More

I live in the area and always enjoy a night out at the Oak Chalet. It is a bit on the expensive side, but the food is always excellent. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and the service is always impeccable.

We love German food and I recently had my 2nd visit here. The restaurant is attractive and inviting. The menu is full of various German dishes, plus some non-German ones, as well. The service is hit or miss. Our first visit was delightful and attentive, but the latest visit was rushed. Water was not refilled without asking, and then only... More

Went there last night with a few girl friends. We go out to try local places that are out of the norm. The place was very welcoming and cute. When you go in you know that you are in a German restaurant. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. They sure know their food. Everything on the menu was well... More

The food at the Oak Tree Chalet reminds me of the German food I ate when I lived in Germany. Very tasteful, and large portions. The house Riesling Wine was excellent - from RhineHessen Germany. A great time at a reasonable price.

My husband and I both ordered the sauerbraten. It came with a dumpling, red cabbage and salad. The salad arrived limp and saturated with dressing. The red cabbage, dumpling and sauerbraten were all lacking in taste. Specifically, the meal did not have the zest or tang that sauerbraten and red cabbage should have. Each item was singularly bland. The meat... More

I grew up in a very German family and was fed on my Grandmothers and Aunt's old German recipes. And I spent many, many trips to various parts of Germany. I finally gave in and ventured to this restaurant. It was the worst German food that I ever had. There are a few good German restaurants left, and this is... More
