We found the Bear Cafe in the afternoon and were given a tour by Ray of the theater and grounds. Great renovation in progress. We came back at 5pm and had enjoyed a wonderful dining experience. Nice wine and beer list. Duck breast and halibut were fantastic! If we are in the area again, we will definitely go again!

Eat outside if weather permits. Very nice food and WOW! surroundings, on a porch by a creek. Service was not first rate, but the meal (duck, roast chicken, bourbon cocktail) was quite good.

What a great meal we had at Bear Cafe... this place was so highly recommended both by TripAdvisor reviews, and also by the hosts of the cottage we rented, we just had to give it a try. SO glad we did!! The food was delicious, and creative. Service was excellent. We were stuffed after our meals, but couldn't pass up... More

The new menu at the Bear is super-duper delicious: tuna tartar, lobster salad, burrata with prosciutto...yeah, you want some of this. My halibut was the best I've ever eaten, and I couldn't get over how succulent the salmon was (yes, we were all eating off of each others' plates all night -- it was that yummy). The staff is friendly... More

Locals love the Bear Cafe. Great stream side location, great theater next door for live music. The Bear has been part of Woodstock in some fashion for nearly 40 years now.

When we found the vacation house we rented online, several past renters had commented to check out the bear cafe, so we made sure to make a reservation for a night during our stay. Boy are we glad we went! Although a little pricey, our group of seven all agreed it was worth it. The place is lovely, with beautiful... More

The restaurant has been delivering fine food for years in this stunning location next to the Bearsville creek. The dishes are an eclectic mix of the freshest ingredients and while it is not cheap, you get what you pay for and the food is excellent. Portions are also pretty generous so you won't leave hungry. We particularly love their rack... More

We have to start by saying that there was a mixup which our reservation but the hostess was very accommodating on a busy night and sat us right away. From there we had to wait a very long time for service. They offered help with the wine list as we had a question but the wine person did not really... More

The Bear Cafe is next to the The Bearsville Theater and makes sense to have a meal here before the show, However I think you'd better off eating in Woodstock. My husband and I had a pre show dinner. First off the bread was delicious. The Kale Salad was also pretty good, but the mains were not great. I had... More

When entering this restaurant for the first time, we were basically ignored as we looked to be seated. Finally, the hostess/manager handed the menus to us, while scowling. The staff looks pretty unhappy in general. And unless you are a regular, you can expect to be treated as if you are invisible. We sat outside, which was lovely, but the... More
