Hard to find

The Black Boy is a cracking place, its small but has lovely gardens to sit in during warm summer evenings. It is sign posted when you get into the village of Oving. They do offer food and although i have not ever eaten there - people do say its good value and the food is good. A lovely village... read more

Sat in the garden for lunch and what can I say about the views other then they are wonderful. Then came our food and lets just say it was fan dabby dozy. I had I lovely sandwhich and a doombar pint. My partner had similar, but had a pint from their fine selection of local and well known pints.

We went here for a friend's birthday meal on recommendation by another local pub who were full. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner of roast beef served with yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and plenty of veg in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere! The pub has a garden with splendid views over the buckinghamshire countryside which is great... More

This is the first time that we have visited since it has reopened and have heard good reviews. We went for Sunday lunch for the first sitting of their carvery and were very disappointed. The meat was tasteless, the yorkshire puddings were way too crispy and hard the potatoes were also very crispy and the vegetables looked un-appertising. The dessert... More

I returned to The Black Boy for a Friday evening meal, the pub was showing off its dog friendliness by hosting many dogs in its beautiful garden. I decided on the ultimate Black Boy burger and it was delicious, the pulled pork was glazed perfectly and the beef was cooked to perfection. A huge thumbs up from me and thank... More

Being Winslow born and bred, Oving is literally around the corner yet I'd never ventured over that way. I'd had a lot of family and friends bang on about The Black Boy and a couple of months ago I decided I'd take my girlfriend there. The view was astounding; set atop a hill, nestled between trees, overlooking Winslow and the... More

On walking to the front door of this 17th century pub, was a big wow. Upon walking through the door was another wow for the interior. Walking through the bar was a huge WOW when you see the amazing view this pub has. We ordered drinks and chatted to the friendly staff at the counter. We were there for lunch... More

We've been to the Black Boy once before for a quick sandwich and drink in the beautiful, rolling garden, and promised ourselves we'd be back. Noticed on their website that on Thursday nights they do a deal: 2 x 8oz sirloin steaks with a bottle of wine for £23.95. And we thought that sounded like a good deal to us!... More

The Carvery was very good, with a good choice of Roasts, and the vegetables were fresh and there was a good selection. A good choice of desserts. The beer as always was good. The staff were very polite and efficient. The view over the garden is spectacular, on a good day you can see Stowe School. Will be coming back... More
