I went here for my birthday yesterday, the food was amazing. I am a coeliac so need to have a gluten free meal. The chief made a glutten free cake for my pudding ( yummy.) They really go the extra mile for you here. Lovely atmosphere great service. There are amazing views and walks from the pub. You must go... More

easy to get a table for Saturday lunch, nice friendly welcome, prompt service, free newspaper to read, historic building (built 1600!), beautiful picturesque village and lovely local walks across fields etc nearby. On the slightly negative side: very oily mushroom stroganov.

Over the years have dropped in here on our way past, often for a drink, and occasionally for a meal. Recently reopened after being closed few months so we thought we would try a Sunday lunch. They had a carvery with four different roasts to choose from, and the usual trimmings. I had beef, which was a really decent piece... More

Having visited the Sunday carvery on the opening weekend and had an amazing meal with friendly service I decided to visit again with my daughter. Another excellent experience with the food being great value for money and just as tasty the second time. The puddings on both occasions were too temping to ignore and the service outstanding. I am so... More

First time I have been in since November 2013 and was lovely to walk in to fires roaring and someone ready to help when I walked in. Me and my wife had starters, main and several drinks and was very pleased with the price of it all. The staff were really friendly and the food was very reasonable and delicious.... More

Last Tuesday we took a friend for a meal to the Black Boy in Oving, and experienced such a warm welcome and fantastic food that we decided to eat there again last night with another group of friends. Everything about the whole evening on both occasions was fantastic - the warm welcome we received on arrival, the amazing food we... More

I went for a meal with my family not long ago and was welcomed by friendly staff who were keen to explain about the history of the pub and show off the amazing views which are worth the visit alone! Smart, prompt and polite service was followed by some of the nicest food I've had in a while, a real... More

Having praised The Blackboy and having visited three times, I was very disappointed when I took my daughter and her boyfriend for dinner on the 9th January. The waiter was young and charming and did his best under difficult circumstances. There was a large party in, but that was no excuse for a 40 minute wait for our starters especially... More

As many comment here, the views and location are stunning when the weather is clear, and especially in the summer in the large garden. As I had seen it was open again we took a drive out for a pint, and had a sandwich while there. The sandwich was as all pubs sandwiches should be - doorstep fresh cut bread,... More
