Stunning Views

this is the third time I have eaten here this year. A sunny day in summer is probably the best time for the view, but its still a welcoming pub with real character. Come early for easy parking. Staff are really friendly with prompt service. Food is not gastro pub standard but portions are good... read more

The service and food was the worst I have experienced in a long time. Have been to this pub a number of times as I live in the village. Its been getting worse and worse. Waited 1 hour 40 min for our food the last time.

This has to be one of the best pubs in the area, fantastic views, lovely restaurant and a welcoming bar. It has everything a pub needs, great fresh food and friendly service. A must visit

Lunch at this pub on a sunny day is a real treat especially if you sit outside in the lovely garden. Friendly helpful staff generous portions and straightforward decent food. Not a slate serving plate in sight and the chips are real not poncy twice fried Rosemary salted efforts. Breathtaking views on a clear day with binoculars to hand if... More

Went for a carvery on Sunday. Food was good with plenty of vegetables and choice of four meats. Caters for young children by provision of a highchair and a cold plate. The garden area us huge and neighbouring livestock kept my grandson absorbed. Lovely views. Staff friendly. Good atmosphere.

We found this pub in the Good Pub Guide so went out of our way to go there and we weren't disappointed. We were welcomed at the door and it wasn't busy so could sit where we wanted, so decided to sit by the window. It was a bit cold so they had the heating on inside, which was very... More

We have been before at this pub and are so glad that the current owners have made such great improvements. We went this week and my son had the amazing hot dog special. The food is of great taste and good size servings. The staff are wonderful and look after you so well. There is a great choice of beers... More

We went for Sunday lunch after hearing they served great food. We were extremely dissapointed with their carvery. No option to order a starter, tasteless and overlooked meat and a poor choice of sides. You get served better food in hospital! I will certainly not be going back here and would advise others to eat at one of the other... More

It was partner's 60th birthday and I was going to take him, and the family out to the Black Boy for dinner since I had heard that the food was good with a lovely view. We got there at 8.34pm and were told that the kitchen closed at 8.30pm. They turned down a hungry table of 5 having a big... More

Sat in the garden for lunch and what can I say about the views other then they are wonderful. Then came our food and lets just say it was fan dabby dozy. I had I lovely sandwhich and a doombar pint. My partner had similar, but had a pint from their fine selection of local and well known pints.
