Fantastic Views but could make more out of the garden

We love the Black Boy, any sunny weekend and we're there. The garden is lovely, it's large and slope away to the most glorious views possibly one of the best pubs for views we know. Not a criticism but a suggestion is to make a bit more out of the garden with better furniture and more of it and... read more

I've visited before but never eaten there, I can highly recommend the food! I'm really fussy about my chips they weren't great but the steak more than made up for them, it's a lovely pub in a beautiful setting, not sure about opening times as I've been down on a Sunday at 7pm only to find it shut

Warning do not just turn up at this pub on a Sunday lunch time. We have just driven some distance to eat at this pub on a lovely sunny Sunday, only to be told "all tables booked" so we said that's fine we would like to sit in the garden anyway to enjoy the beautiful views, only to be told... More

I've reviewed here before, having enjoyed a steak night. We popped in for lunch on Sunday - a lovely sunny day in the 20s - and only carvery was being served. I might be a bit peculiar but I really don't like a roast dinner in warm weather - and judging by how quiet it was, I wondered if people... More

This charming pub is nestled in the quaint village of Oving. Once inside the views over the Buckinghamshire countryside are breath taking. The restaurant is a good size with a wonderful garden. On a sunny day the garden is definitely the place to enjoy lunch or a drink! Today my daughter and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast served as... More

The service and food was the worst I have experienced in a long time. Have been to this pub a number of times as I live in the village. Its been getting worse and worse. Waited 1 hour 40 min for our food the last time.

This has to be one of the best pubs in the area, fantastic views, lovely restaurant and a welcoming bar. It has everything a pub needs, great fresh food and friendly service. A must visit

Lunch at this pub on a sunny day is a real treat especially if you sit outside in the lovely garden. Friendly helpful staff generous portions and straightforward decent food. Not a slate serving plate in sight and the chips are real not poncy twice fried Rosemary salted efforts. Breathtaking views on a clear day with binoculars to hand if... More

Went for a carvery on Sunday. Food was good with plenty of vegetables and choice of four meats. Caters for young children by provision of a highchair and a cold plate. The garden area us huge and neighbouring livestock kept my grandson absorbed. Lovely views. Staff friendly. Good atmosphere.

We found this pub in the Good Pub Guide so went out of our way to go there and we weren't disappointed. We were welcomed at the door and it wasn't busy so could sit where we wanted, so decided to sit by the window. It was a bit cold so they had the heating on inside, which was very... More
