Dritan the owner is very knowledgeable on wine and recommended a lovely selection to compliment our meal. The atmosphere is intimate and... More

Booked based on reviews on this website. You would never drive past this pub/restaurant because of its location so you may not know it exists but you should. Went with a couple of friends who often eat out and they loved it as we did. My steak was excellent but my friends lamb was to die for. 3 courses plus... More

This restaurant has changed hands a few times over the last few years but I hope the present owner stays a very very long time !! Welcome was lovely, food excellent. Beer excellent too. I don't usually choose lamb but would have it again here. Although the different courses came with their own suggested side dishes, you can ask for... More

We go about 5 times a year to this restaurant which is 40 miles away. The reason being is the food is amazing. It is a leisurely service and the food is beautifully presented. It is run by a husband and wife team - the husband is the chef and the wife is front of house. All the staff are... More

Really warm welcome and fabulous food to boot - we just love the Baby Amarone and were overwhelmed by the generosity of the owner. His home made sorbets with Calvados are to die for!

Went for a special meal and the food was good but we can't say it was outstanding as some friends had described it some months ago. It would be outstanding if they went back - at least in part - to the days when you had a range of choices about what you have with the main course. I appreciate... More

We celebrated our 30th anniversary and wanted to make it a special occasion for friends and family. We could not have chosen a better place. Dritan helped us plan the menu and other options and was very accommodating to our needs. The food was exquisite and guests were talking about it for days afterwards. The service during the meal was... More

We held our anniversary party at the Chequers and couldn't have been more impressed by every aspect of our experience. It's a lovely venue for casual dining, but we used it to host a large celebratory party for our extended family as it is full of character and charm. We were supported every step of the way when planning our... More

Dritan and Ranka were incredible in helping us organise our wedding reception at The Chequers. They could provide everything we needed either themselves, or through their own contacts - a dj, flowers, a marquee, a photo booth - everyone was extremely professional and lovely to deal with. Dritan also offered that his kitchen could have made a cake, had we... More

Once again, Dritan and Ranka pulled out all the stops on Sunday in hosting a charity luncheon on behalf of 2 of our local charities. The use of the marquee adjacent to the restaurant was a tremendous bonus that enabled over 90 people to attend and sit in comfort. The buffet luncheon was just the best I have experienced for...
