I was with a group of 8 people. We were all from out of town. We had decided to dine at 'The Chequers Inn' based on Trip Advisor ratings. We were not disappointed. The service was most attentive. The staff accommodated dietary restrictions of members of our party. The food came out with elegant presentation. The dining room has a... More

Went for a lunch with family and firends. The food was absolutely amazing, I could not fault it out of this world. I was really disappointed with the attitude of some of the staff. As soon as we walked through the door we were told that we couldn't bring a buggy into the restaurant. Our waitress was lovely however other... More

Second visit and whilst a quiet evening surprisingly given the time of year, it is well worth finding and going as the food standard is very good and well worth the trip. Beautiful starter of beetroot and goats cheese with avocado and all mains very balanced, speed of service good and staff friendly and pleasant! Cheese course could do with... More

Yet again a wonderful evening at the Chequers. The food looks and tastes beautifully delicious. The staff are friendly and efficient. The combination always makes for a truly dependably delightful dining experiience.

Arrived late for lunch at 2 but welcomed, and we enjoyed a relaxed 2 hour luncheon with log fire burning in bar, we sat in main restaurant, had kir royale and a South African shiraz which was good but also 21 pounds. We enquired what "cannon of lamb" was, rack without bones of the rack. So one of us had... More

We returned after a absence of several months, and found the welcome as warm as the roaring fire in the bar. We enjoyed an excellent set lunch my wife had ham egg and chips, and I the chicken with lentils. We dined in the bar as we had walked some miles, through the fields. The standard is very high whether it... More

This was our first visit for a good few years and we knew that the ownership had changed and things would be different. Frankly it was even better than before: all the staff were friendly, welcoming and professional, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was very good and not as hushed and formal as on our last visit under... More

My wife chose The Chequers to celebrate my birthday based on a number of good reviews the restaurant had been getting of late. Although very close to home, we last ate here about 4 years ago, favouring the Woolpack and the Bell of late. From when we walked in to when we left, the waiting staff were attentive, but not... Always considered a treat to visit this restaurant as it has a feel of a good English pub combined with class and the best food. We have eaten here around ten times and never had a bad meal. It is a bit expensive but overall good value considering the quality of food and service.
