For a family dinner during our weekend visit, our kids took us to Fifty South Restaurant. We were seated quickly we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere that individual rooms created. Service was excellent, we like and support the 'farm-to-table' orientation, and the four quite different entrees we ordered were each very satisfactory and of good value.

We were in the area for one Friday night and the hotelier recommended this place. When we arrived, about 7:30pm, we were a bit surprised by how quiet the place was. Probably has about 20-25 tables, not sure about the bar, and only 4 or 5 were occupied on a Friday evening. The wait staff are very friendly, but it... More

Fifty South was recommended by the owner of the Good Morning Café, and you can't go wrong when another foodie recommends a restaurant. The restaurant is a farm to table restaurant is supplied by local farmers. So on that note, I and my dining partner decided to have the turkey dinner. Neither of us was disappointed; everything on the plate... More

After reading mixed reviews, we finally decided to give this a try. Walking through the door we were immediately greeted by a very pleasant person who brought us to our table. We were seated at a table in the bar area; I immediately thought, ugh. To our surprise , this began a wonderful dinner with an amazing musician as an... More

I am a huge fan of local restaurants and cafes who support local farmers.. And fifty south is one of them.. We wanted to try this place for a while after hearing all the great reviews.. I prefer going places unexpectedly and discover the greatness.. However with fifty south I read the reviews before.. I think I had a higher... More

Unassuming from the outside and kinda quirky inside - but who goes there for the decorations. A well-prepared Maker's Mark Manhattan is only $9. The BB ribs were rustic, smokey, and savory, finger-licking delicious, a special for the evening as was the roasted turkey with homemade stuffing, served over a warm, hearty gravy. Portions were full-bodied, and no one left... More

The service was not as good as the food. The waitress was pleasant but not very efficient. The restaurant did not appear to be extremely busy...certainly not busy enuf to have to wait an hour for our food and 20 minutes to get a glass of wine. Yes, the food was good but that does not make up for t... More

First and last time to this restaurant .. the food should be healthy. However, the meat and sides were very oversalted from the kitchen. No good bread - overpriced for mediocre food. Servers were fine.

I was surprised that 50 South didn't get better reviews. If you are Gluten-free, this is the place to go. There are many GF choices from soup to dessert and they are delicious! Having been GF for over a year, it is such a relief to have found a restaurant that offers such wonderful GF choices at a reasonable price... More

Right on Route 50, this is an easy stop between Schenectady and Saratoga. This was the last stop of five for me during Saratoga Restaurant Week. First up was the Blood Orange and Honey Calamari appetizer. While it was okay, it was a disappointment because the description made it sound better than it actually was. With calamari, one needs to... More
