Small, friendly, good food

Try the green chili soup, it's the most flavorful I've ever had. Most items from $9 and up, but they do have a "small plate selection." My husband had the fried catfish special and said it was prepared perfectly and he also loved the slaw. They had some Tex Mex, salads, burgers, interesting mixed... read more

Liked the quick service. Liked to browse the souvenir section. This is the type of dinner/restaurant that was popular in the early days. Good food, low prices, a place where the locals and the travelers come for a quick lunch, or an all out dinner meal.

Was recommended this restaurant by the hotel clerk. Great food. My wife had chicken fried chicken with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. She said it was outstanding. I had a green chile burger with homemade fries. Excellent Highly recommend.

We chose Rockin' Y's cuz we read about it on Trip Advisor. Tucumcari is unique because it's about a day's drive from Tucson on the way home to the Midwest. There are lots of restaurants to choose from. None of them are stellar, I'm sorry to say. Rockin' Y's does the nicest staff folks we have ever experienced in Tucumcari... More

The chicken fried steak is huge and done to perfection. Crispy on outside and juicy on the inside. Also served with REAL mashed potatoes and the corn tasted like right out of the field. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We always stop here when in Tucumcari. Food is reasonably priced and servings are large.

I enjoyed eating in this great local place right on Route 66. I had enchiladas with green chili sauce--not too spicy and not too bland--with rice and tasty pintos (not refried beans!) that hit the spot after a long day of driving. Light-as-air sopapillas were also included. The service was excellent, and all of the staff was very friendly. The... More

We had the BBQ sandwich and pulled pork. Both were very good. Lots of truck drivers in here which says it's a great diner. Good service too. Throw back diner on Route 66.

Staff was very prompt and polite. Nice to see adequate staffing in place to handle any customer load. Food was very good - and delivered promptly. Waiter was attentive and helpful. A diner atmosphere from the 60s. Highly recommended if you are in Tucumcari on Route 66.

Passing through there's not many choices. It's obviously a locals hangout. They serve a bit of everything. The chile rellenos would have been better if they hadn't been deep fried too long then put under a broiler. Just a bit overcooked. The chicken enchiladas were surprisingly all white meat but it was all chopped up into cubes which made it... More
