We were passing through on our way to Arizona and were ready to eat. Rockin Y's Roadhouse doesn't look like much on the outside, but it's on Route 66 and from reading the signs, etc...it seemed like it would fill the bill. Again, not much to look at (even on the inside), but when you realize it's on "Historic Route... More

Great value and nostalgic feeling while dining. The Staff are outstanding and make you feel like you are at home. Down home hearty cooking- a true local place to eat.

The food was good, the staff was very friendly. We were just passing through, looking for a place to eat that didn't have a drive through. I would definitely recommend this place and would eat here again.

There used to be a couple of places like this in every little town on 66. All but a few have been replaced by plastic stereotypes. This one is the real deal! Hand cut French fries, outstanding meatloaf, and barbecued beef that's butter-tender! I resisted asking the guy at a nearby table for a taste of his enchilada. It looked... More

The "Running Paints" mural on the outside north wall was very good. My chicken enchiladas were, well, uninspired. They were accompanied by the smallest portion of rice I've ever seen (but more would have not made it better. The red sauce was not just tame, but plain. Next time, I'll order a green chili burger or go downtown.

Stopped on again on a three week across the US trip, hoping to get another great meal. This one was just about as average as you could ask for, nothing stood out. Friendly staff and unique place, maybe it will be better later this fall when we are in town again. You do get a great value for your money... More

I found this gem by driving up and down Route 66 in Tucumcari and stopping at the restaurant with the most cars parked out front. I was in New Mexico so Green Chile had to be on my plate. I ordered the Green Chile Cheese Burger, from one of the friendliest waitresses I have encountered in a long time. This... More

Tucumcari's business Rte 66 is a sad shadow of its fabled past, but the Rockin' Y still provides a great American roadhouse diner meal and experience. The staff is enthusiastic and efficient, and the food is just fine. I really enjoyed the meatloaf. House wines by the glass are drinkable. Finding a decent meal on I-40 in Southwestern NM is... More
