The restaurant is in the El Monte Sagrado, which is a splendid modern resort. There are several restaurant areas; we dined in an interior room that was decorated in a Southwestern/Victorian style with high-backed, heavy, dark, navy chairs that were smothered in gold tassels - bizarre. The choice of food was good; being fish eaters we started with mussels then... More

Our family of 6 ate here for dinner during our family ski trip. The salmon came out partially raw, vegetables were cold, bison was very tough and grisselly (cooked MR), tuna snd Elk were not surpurb either. The sub-par service was not acceptable. We could not locate our waitress for 10 min and had to go to the bar to... More

We ate from the restaurant menu while sitting in the Anaconda Bar. There usually isn't much you can say about calamari but we will be planning a trip back to El Monte Sagrado as much for the calamari as anything else! And the Green Chili Mac and Cheese - zowie! Loved it. Didn't experience the restaurant - had reservations but... More

We've been waiting over 30 minutes already for a continental breakfast!! So far all we have is coffee and juice. When the food did arrive the English was stone cold. The yogurt and muffins were good. Wait staff are mixed - some are friendly, some are not. Overall a frustrating start to the day.

The restaurant is well decorated with large cushioned chairs. There was maybe one other table on a weeknight. I wasn't very hungry so got a Ceasar Salad, tasted like plain watery lettuce. I could barely discern any parmigianna cheese on it, was a scant teaspoon and could not taste any dressing and I like my dressings scant. Maybe the chef... More

Our first dinner of a one week NM trip and the best, (none were bad). Also, our only hotel restaurant dinner. Impressive dining room; very good food selection; excellent food quality and excellent service. Some reasonably priced "summer" wines. Disappointed in the NM wine choices, however that theme recurred in other restaurants on the trip. De la Tierra offered a... More

This elegant restaurant with its dramatic decor is located in the El Monte Sagrado eco-resort, about one-third of a mile from the central plaza of Taos. Our party of three travelers was happy to find a quality restaurant that that was still serving dinner at 9:30 p.m. on a weeknight in June 2013. Although we were the last table of... More

We were staying at the resort (not as good as the restaurant by the way) and wanted to dine here. We were looking for good steaks and wine and almost didn't go because there were so few people in the restaurant (only had four tables all night). We went anyway and are so glad we did. The wedge salads were... More

I really don't know why our waitress ignored us after we arrived, she went through the very small dining room and it was very difficult for her to avoid even looking our way as she had to walk past our table repeatedly for the first 20-30 minutes after we were seated, but she managed to do it. The place wasn't... More
