This is a neat place at the end of an alley

This is a Mexican restaurant that is located at the end of a walk way and alley way in the Plaza area. We first went there and it was jam packed at lunch time. It is better to go early or after lunch in order to get a seat. We had the enchiladas and they were delicious. The service is... read more

We asked a clerk where to eat in downtown Taos. Her immediate recommendation was the Alley Cantina. Tucked away down an alley on the NW corner of the square was real find. Great atmosphere, good service, and great food. Fish and chips is reported to be their specialty dish, but the enchiladas were first rate. The queso was the best... More

We had a large party of 10 and they were very accommodating. Food was great and drinks were even better. Happy hour was until 7pm. They had an excellent jazz band the Sunday evening we were there. They also had games such as pool, shuffleboard, and others.

Nice atmosphere in courtyard. Homemade green chili with pork was really good - just the right amount of spice

At first glance, this did not seem like somewhere we might want to stay for long, but the service was good and the food was fine. Best of all, although we had not even realised they had a happy hour, we had, apparently, sat down just as it was ending, so our drinks were very inexpensive.

My wife and I spent a long weekend in Taos, and unfortunately we didn't discover "The Alley" until our last day. It was by far the most enjoyable eating experience for us. Had we found it on Day One, we would have stopped by everyday. We initially stopped in for lunch, and enjoyed a very solid green chili cheeseburger and... More

We were visiting Taos for the day and ate lunch here by default when the two restaurants recommended to us were closed. We wandered into the Plaza and found this place. It is located in what is purported to be the oldest building in Taos. It has low ceiling with the wooden vigas. The rooms are small and the floors... More

Happy hour was longer than some of the other nearby restaurants. Loved the enchiladas, soups, and guacamole. Nice casual place to wind down. Never spent more than $50 for a relaxing evening. Each night had live music as well. We would ask a different shop owner each day for a recommendation for "local food" and this was always on the... More

Alley's is a nice place to get a bite to eat located right off the historical town square. It is said it has the best blue corn enchiladas in town, they are pretty good. But, I think they may be the only place in Taos that makes the Blue corn enchiladas. The staff is friendly and the service is good.
