My wife and I love this restaurant for its intimate ambiance, artfully prepared food, sensual deserts, and joyful owner/chef. And, did I mention good value and a nice selection of reasonably-priced wines? The menu, like the seating capacity, is small but covers all bases. Some reviewers have sited the Byzantium for slow service. Call us old-fashioned, but we still enjoy... More

My wife and I have eaten all over the world, and this was one of the best food experiences we've ever had!! Can't believe this place is in cozy little Taos! The owner, Skot, personally makes (and serves) the food, and its unbelievably good! Don't go there if you're in a rush or are looking for a "normal" restaurant -... More

Everything was well prepared or supervised and served by the owner himself. Very friendly and gracious host. Only regret was the lag time waiting for the courses as we sat for a long time. Would not be an issue if one wished to or planned to have a very leisurely dinner.

This was more like eating in a private home that has an excellent chef and excellent host. We knew that the menu was limited so called ahead and they had saved two of their specials, an excellent fish dish. Lovely, eclectic decor in the small restaurant. The coffee and dessert were perfect.

A restaurant with one waiter and only seven table has to produce exceptional food. In our one visit to Byzantium, we were satisfied but not impressed. Previous reviewers recommended the pork tenderloin which we found dry, overcooked and under seasoned. The accompanying vegetables were forgettable and the bread which was fine was not worth $6.00 overcharge (this is not Paris).... More

The restaurant is lovely, romantic, intimate with only 8-10 tables and unique decor. The menu is short but very creative. The food is delicious, amazing flavors and presentation, worth every penny. Presentation of food is stunning. Scott, the owner is the chef and waiter. I cannot say enough good things about this incredible dining experience. Byzantium is necessary stop if... More

Spent a very nice two hours enjoying, the wine, food and ambience of this small, laid-back restaurant just off the plaza in Taos. Service was appropriate for the experience with no rushing, but still attentive to your needs. Liked the coconut lemongrass soup as a starter followed by the lemon-crusted chicken with garlic mashed potatoes with celery cabbage compote. Finished off... More

We chose this restaurant because we wanted something more creative and an intimate atmosphere. The food was unique and delightful. I had the Meditteraneum seafood soup and it was excellent. The desert was wonderful. The room was cozy and quiet, even after most of the tables were filled. But don't come here if you're really hungry. They charge for the... More

We went here on Father's Day...while there is no website for this restaurant, we had been able to see some past menus which peaked our interest. We arrived for our 6:30 reservation and were surprised that there was just one other table seated - once they left, we had the place to ourselves! The owner was attentive to our requests... More

Went expecting a wonderful dining experience somewhat based on the rating number. Very small, not many tables and only 2 people consisting of the chef and the server. Ordered salad which was maybe $9 and consisted of spinach with the stems still on for God's sake, a few pecans and other non memorable items. Our main courses were equally forgettable... More
