Located off the beaten path, but close to the shopping, we were looking for a restaurant with a lighter menu and came up El Gamal. Small business restaurant, but very welcoming. My friends had the Beet salad and I had a falafal - lots of food and very good. Open 7 days a week from 9 to 9, reasonable, less... More

Why does El Gamal receive such wildly differing reviews on Tripadvisor? This past month's visits, a Saturday morning followed by the next Monday morning, explained the mystery to me. The first visit on this trip to Taos? Exemplary food, reasonably priced, perfectly prepared, with friendly and efficient service. The freshness and flavors of the falafel, hummus, pita, salad, fries, and... More

The food here is absolutely delicious. The lentil quinoa bruger is very yummy with a spicy mayo comes with incredible fries/onions and topped with zataar. The avocado sandwich is amaze. The soups here i highly recommend and the fresh baked breads. We are blessed to have such fresh and delicious vegetarian food here in Taos. I am a super picky... More

My husband and I stopped here based on the many good reviews, but I must say I was not impressed. Everything just seemed to lack flavor. Service was just okay. Our server asked my husband if he wanted hot sauce with his falafel and then charged extra For it without telling us. Not a horrible experience, but I wouldn't go... More

After more than a week of Southwestern cuisine, we longed for something different. A guide at a local Taos museum suggested El Gamal. We're so glad he did! I had one of the best sandwiches I ever had....freshly roasted red peppers, artichokes, and feta cheese on pita. Yummy! My husband had falafel and said it was excellent. We chatted with... More

Was taken to this place by friends who loved it. Now, I love it. The food is outstanding and plentiful. It is all vegetarian, but you don't miss the meat with food like this. Service is fast and efficient. Prices are OK, but more than you would expect for meat-less meals.

Best place for lovingly prepared veggie dishes and amazing soups BUT cranky vibe, noisy and not such a feel good place. Nice waitstaff seemed harassed by the kitchen. Too bad.

We went to eat at ElGamal only because of the many and good reviews. What a disappointment! The place is nice, decor is nice, spacious. It all ends there. Service was slowwwwwwww. We might have waited a year for our food to arrive. Many things we ordered were not available. When they offered us and gave us substitute items, they... More

Here after skiing with our 2 kids and my kids could not get enough if the dolmas! The red lentil soup was amazing as was the okra dish that my husband enjoyed. The kids enjoyed the "family room" and pool table in the back and William the chef was delightfully hospitable talking with me about recipes and showing me knife... More
