Great location average food

There are a lot of places to eat in Taos, so my expectations were high for a place right on the square in the heart of town. The food was fine, the service ok. It just didn't match up to other local restaurants.

I liked the place alot more before they renovated way back when. I don't know if that signified a change in ownership but the food seems to have gone downhill quite a bit. The burgers were just ok and the nachos were something they should really be ashamed of. It looks like something thrown together after a trip to Costco.... More

My husband and I wanted a light lunch so we ordered Nachos. The restaurant was clean and tidy and the staff was most helpful. When the Nachos arrived..on a cookie sheet, we were amazed how much there was! The Nachos are covered in Cheese and black Beans and baked in the oven! You get Salsa, guacamole, sour cream and jalapeños... More

When stopped here for lunch upon our arrival in Taos. We sat outside at a table overlooking the Taos Plaza. It was fun to watch the shoppers while enjoying lunch. The service was a bit slow to start but improved as the meal went on. The food is very good.

What a great restaurant in a town of many choices. Generous portions. The pastrami sandwich on marble bread was hot and delicious. The fish sandwich came with tasty slaw and was plentiful. Our only disappointment was that they ran out of sweet potato fries just before our order. They had looked so good as we saw them going by on... More

I am coming back to "Gorge" every time I am in Taos. It is located on historical Taos Plaza - traditional "American" dishes are consistently good - ribs, fish and chips, salmon - one to remember is "New Mexican" green chile stew. Anchor Steam beer is recommended from the tap.

I consider myself a green chile stew connoisseur as I've eaten it all over the place and also make a very good version. This is one of the best ones I've ever had, perfectly seasoned and with the right amount of heat.

Everything about this place is average. The one positive is the location on the plaza. Everything else is average. The chips are average, the salsa is average, the appetizers are average, and the main courses are average. In short, it's average.

We have been here many times and the food is consistently great. My only problem is whether I get something I've ordered before or try something new from their great menu. I usually opt for the latter and I've never been disappointed. You will never be disappointed with the Gorge Bar and Grill..

We ate on the terrace overlooking the Taos Plaza on a cooling evening as the sun set. The wait staff were almost all very young, and obviously inexperienced, and not terribly well trained. Our server tried hard. The food was ok, but when I ordered a root beer float, the root beer came from the bar, and the ice cream... More
