We usually cook ourselves, due to the facts that most restaurants in Taos serve meals I can make myself at a much lower cost, and many servers in Taos restaurants make me feel like they are doing a favor bringing the food. So, why go out? I recommend El Meze and suggest it when asked, “Were do the locals eat... More

We were trying to find a nice place for dinner and it was monday night so it was hard to find a really nice place that was open. We came across El Meze on the trip advisor reviews and were also really excited about the menu. So we went and I was so impressed with the wait staff our server... More

We saw the menu for this restaurant in a guide in Taos and the Trip Advisor ratings were uniformly high so we went. It would be very easy to drive by and think "No thanks" as it shares a featureless front with the water advisory office but as soon as you enter, there is a water feature, lovely lighting and... The staff was especially helpful making our dining experience peaceful, pleasant and delightful. Especially creative and interesting dishes, prepared from someone who obviously takes great pride in doing their best to please the taste pallet. We arrived at 5:30 PM when they opened for dinner and dined outside on the patio. What a beautiful view of the mountains while watching... More

Our B&B Hacienda del Sol recommended El Meze. We arrived in time to watch the sunset over the mountains. The service was excellent and every dish absolutely delicious. We loved the appetizer of tomatoes (grown in the garden) and the gazpacho and the buffalo meat burro. Good selection of wine and desserts. Just a fabulous experience! We highly recommend!

When in Taos, be sure to eat at El Meze located in an old Hacienda with classic charm just north of the plaza. Chef Fred uses fresh local ingredients and changes the menu accordingly to go with the season. Like many famous French chefs, he will often visit the table to make sure everything was prepared and enjoyed properly. Hostess/Owner... More

The food and service was really wonderful. We sat outside under cover and the view of Taos Mountain was spectacular. The menu is very different and interesting. Limited selections. Every item we ordered was just outstanding. We will return on our next trip to Taos. Reservations recommended.

My wife and I spent a few days in Taos decompressing from life back east and wanted a more relaxed dining experience. El Meze came up as number one in Taos and that was good enough for us. Where to start? The server was charming, helpful (she guided us through the menu intelligently!!), the atmosphere was calm and easy, and,... More

Our recent visit to El Meze was absolutely wonderful! Our visit started off with our waitress Kelly explaining the history of the building and the area and pointing out interesting features we would have missed had she not been so kind and attentive. This is a small restaurant so definitely make reservations. There is beautiful art on the walls and... More

If you are going to El Meze my advice is to find out what time the sun sets and sit on the terrace. We arrived at 6:30 and had a spectacular meal and view. The power was out that night so the Chef and his staff were working by candlelight in the kitchen. We couldn't order anything from the grill... More
