There is such an abundance of good food in New Mexico that sometimes I wonder if a bad meal is possible, so when I say that El Meze was my favorite meal on our recent early Fall trip it’s saying something. The food is, quite simply, outstanding, as is the wine, and the peaceful ambiance allows for quiet conversations. I... More

Dianne and I arrived in Taos, checked into a hotel, chatted to our son in Chile and then searched for a great dining experience. We found this one, looked at the reviews And then decided to go. It was fantastic! They recommended we do a share menu and a great wine. The food was great, the wine fantastic and the... More

This was an absolutely fabulous place to have dinner. Make a reservation and spend the money. The menu is set up for the table to share. Everything on the menu was great, the service was excellent and highly recommended by the community.

My husband and I were in the Taos area celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and I was really looking for someplace nice and intimate that had a delicious and quality service and selection. We found it. First off - this was our first time to this restaurant and my first time in the area. So we read a collection of... More

Visited El Meze on the last evening of our vacation to Taos and were quite unimpressed. We found the hummus at the Bent Street Deli & Cafe actually more tasty than El Meze's bland version. And although my husband's pasta dish was delicious, my trout dish was, simply, burned, not "char-grilled." Too bad the food doesn't live up to their... More

From the 1st day we opened which will be 4 years in January; we have been preparing the Trout dish the same way. So I was very surprised to read your review claiming it was burned. We don’t ever serve burned food and never will. Our philosophy from the day we open has been if we would not eat it,... More

big disappointment. noise level is an issue for us and this is a problem at el meze if the restaurant is more than half full. tables are very close together, very low ceiling, hard surfaces. waiter and house wines were wonderful. hummus appetizer was good and served with a generous portion of various olives. serrano ham was curiously tasteless as... I am sorry that we were such a “big disappointment” to you. Noise level is an issue for any restaurant unless you have fabric padded walls, carpet on the floor and acoustic tiles in the ceiling which is unrealistic for us since we are in an historic 1847 adobe hacienda which is part of the charm of the restaurant. It... More

after two weeks of eating new mexico (chillies) style food, we wanted to try something different but still new mexican in style. This was a perfect choice. unusual appetizers and main courses. a blend of chili and middle eastern spices. Appetizers, main course and desert were great. The staff and the desert chef were friendly, fun and personable. The evening... More

Love the limited menu - the trout was wonderful. Recommended by the hosts of the B&B we stayed at. You do need reservations! We showed up without them, but were early enough for us to be squeezed in. Very friendly staff.

WOW, so many great fresh items! The flavors were outstanding and really were wonderful. Loved how you could just order a mixuture of plates and share. Loved the green beans with gorganzola...so simple but great flavors. The ribs just feel off the bone and such a great spice. Nice atmosphere with great music. Thanks to Fred ad Annette for a... More
