Best Breakfast in Town

We ate breakfast at least a dozen times in our one month stay. Consistently great food and service. The chocolate croissants are spectacular.

Haven't been back since they expanded, but hoping the food is still just as good. Breakfast is excellent, plenty of options and staff/cooks are very pleasant (my grandparents are picky eaters), try the prickly pear lemonade

We hope you'll stop in next time you make it down this way! After the renovation, we have the same chef and the same menu, but now we have more seats! :) More

I like everything about this place; nice building and decor, fresh flowers, great service, homemade bread and wonderful food. Everything we have tried for breakfast has been outstanding. The green salad served with many breakfast dishes is a delightful addition. If you are looking for meals with heavy food, smothered in red or green chili sauce, and tasting like you've... More

We had a wonderful breakfast at this newly remodeled eatery in Taos. While the location and the decor are nothing historical or noteworthy, the food is fantastic. It was a busy morning, but we got great service and enjoyed the experience. From the traditional to the innovative, there's something for everyone on the menu.

I ate lunch here solo (Toaseño Breakfast). The food was good and the service too. But I got a terrible stomach ache that afternoon. I'm not sure of that was the food or just me so I'll withhold judgement for the moment and hope to give them another try next time I'm in Taos.

The restaurant looks to me as if it was just opened - there was no art on the wall when we walked in, and the menu was not fully accurate (apparently no liquor license yet, despite the menu indicating otherwise). But the French/Latin fusion food is simply delicious - I can't remember the last time that a "salade niçoise" in... More

We did actually just RE-open after being closed for construction for 3 1/2 months. We are working on filling the walls with art from local artists. Yes, we typically do serve beer/wine and are working to get the license updated and renewed for the new space. Gutiz has been serving Taos for over 9 years and we are excited about... More

We seemed to have visited Gutiz very shortly after reopening following a renovation and addition. Everything was sort of unfinished. And, unfortunately, the renovation left them with hard walls and tile floors and little relief. So the sound just bounced off everything and it was deafening. Service was friendly and pleasant and capable. The place is only open for breakfast... More

Keith, We are glad you enjoyed your meal at Gutiz. I want to assure you that we are working on the sound issue. (It bothers us too) We just started hanging sound-absorbing panels on the ceiling last night and have been talking to a good "sound guy" about what else to do. We hope to see you again next time... After five days in the Taos area we headed to Texas, not without visiting the best breakfast/brunch in town. Almost everything has a touch of French countryside. Great crepes, Brie omelette, coffee (it doesn't even need sugar). To go we took their famous French toasts. Which we ate on the road, exceptional. What can we say, excellent!

I arrived in Taos after several hours on the scenic byway-which is completely worth it, by the way-starving and still slightly hungover from the Saturday night before. I googled, of course, and decided on Gutiz. I was seated immediately and decided on their basic breakfast-two eggs, with three slices of bacon, on top of greens. It was perfect-it completely cured... Just had another great lunch in the bigger and brighter remodeled restaurant. My husband had his favorite egg stack and I had the BBQ brisket sandwich. The quality is the same as before...great!
