Solid Food in a Dive Bar

My husband and I were exploring The Very Large Array, and on our way back to Albuquerque, we decided to stop in and have some green chile burgers. This place is definitely a dive. It's old, kind of run-down, but the food was solid. My husband liked the chile burger, and my cheese burger was good... read more

Loved the pintos beans with green chili sauce and the burger with no meat. Not sure of the vegetarian options when we arrived since this place is known for their burgers. Glad we stopped, highly recommend.

My wife and I recently had green chile cheeseburgers at the Owl Bar. They were pretty good and about on par with the tasty green chile cheeseburgers we previously tried at the Buckhorn restaurant--the Owl Bar's across-the-street rival in San Antonio. The service was friendly and the bar itself quite fascinating with its colorful history of being a hangout for... More

We had a small group stop in after a day at the Bosque del Apache. The Buckhorn was closed and this had OK reviews so we decided to try it. The Green Chile Cheeseburger had a standard size patty, american cheese and medium heat green chile. For the price I thought it was a bit small. It was served on... More

Food was boring, the fries soggy, but the room was "colorful" and the service very friendly and attentive.

Stopped in on our way to Ruidoso. The place was packed but we still got in, ate and were out of there quickly. We had a BLT and green chili cheeseburger. Both were good and a decent price for a tourist stop.

Seems like every time I read about burger places you've got to go to I would run up against The Owl Bar. I finally got my shot on a trip to Santa Fe and I was not disappointed. Not only are the burgers just as promised but the onion rings were good too. Both nicely accompanied by a Modelo Negro.... More

From the outside, this place looks like a dive bar, but once inside you are met with warm, friendly staff and they serve awesome food! They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and their burgers are to die for! Food was awesome!

During a recent visit to New Mexico the clerk at my hotel recommended this restaurant. She told me about the Green Chile Cheeseburger which I tried and liked and also bit about the history of the area. I found it very interesting that the scientists that successfully detonated the first atomic bomb in the nearby White Sands Missile Testing Range... More

my first visit to the Owl will be one of my top gastronomic experiences of my life. Let me say this was a perfect burger in every respect a perfect bun to meat ratio a superb loose patty and some of the most flavorful beef ever. The old timey feel and the nice old lady's only add to the experience... More
