Love Local!

My husband and I just moved to rio Rancho from near downtown Albuquerque. We love our new place, but the surrounding area is kind of "suburban sprawl". My husband and I just moved to rio Rancho from near downtown Albuquerque. We love our new place, but the surrounding area is kind of "suburban sprawl". Rio Rancho generally lacks the charm of its much larger and more diverse counterpart. BUT...we discovered this little local gem for breakfast one Saturday morning. First time visit, "wimpy" chile lover, nervous about going based on the name. Thoroughly enjoyed the lunch. Had chile rellenos, excellent flavor, mild heat, generous portion (saved some for lunch next day). Great service. Will go back.

If you get tired of House of Pancakes and Wecks, try Hot Tamales on a weekend. They have great smothered burritos, good salsa, refried beans, and everything else you'd expect a good southwestern Mexican style breakfast to have.

No alcohol. Small and cozy. Has separate room for large parties. Same owner (Mike) as nearby O'Hare's. Good, overpriced, Mexican Food. Try the chicken!

Went for lunch, they have a few things on the menu which are not on every typical New Mexican menu. It was a cold rainy day so we tried the tamale posole, literally a big bowl of posole with a tamale laid on top. It was a great meal and something different. We also had the green chile stew. The... Everything about this place is average. The customer service with the floral shirts, the chile, the ambiance. I really wanted to love this place as many folks have said how much they love it. I guess growing up in Northern New Mexico has made me expect more from restaurants that claim to have excellent Ne Mexican food.

This restaurant does not serve alcohol. Sorry, no margaritas! Don't let the alcohol-free policy deter you from enjoying some of the best New Mexican food you've ever had. The Green Chile Chicken Enchilada Casserole is addicting. It's more than enough food to share or take home for lunch for the next day. The fajitas are served in a cast iron... More
