Take a Chance, Come up a Winner

Arrived here by default, having found nothing else in town that appealed. Turns out, this is a Locals spot and folks from the area came in for dinner. The menu is basic, but the food is good, with decent portions. This is a hidden gem.

This place has become a joke in our family as the worst restaurant in the world. I personally think it might be a portal into another dimension. Which might explain some of the positive reviews. The chicken fried steak would be a criminal offense in Texas. I could not eat it. The baked potato was underdone; the vegetables canned and... More

Arrived moments before they closed, but the staff was very accommodating and the food was above average. I was disappointed that they were out of green chili that late in the day but happy to enjoy a stuffed sopapilla!

I'm a gourmet, rare ground brisket beef on a toasted sour dough bun with blue cheese hamburger type of person but when I tasted their Mega-burger; cooked to well and hand patted ground beef on a homemade Cuban bread style bun with lettuce, tomato, white onion and sliced dill pickles with mayo, mustard and ketchup I was transported. Why? Because you... More

This was recommended by our hotel as a place the locals eat. It was full of locals. We had to wait a long time for our order to be taken and I had to physically get up and ask for refills on water and tea. (the waitresses were overworked). I ordered chicken fried steak and it was very greasy and... More

I ate lunch here with a friend I hadn't seen in fifty years. She ordered a half chef salad and I a whole chef salad. If I had ordered the half portion it would have been more than I could eat. It's a small town locals hang out for coffee, and meals.

On our way from Bella Vista, AR to Buena Vista, CO we stopped in Raton, NM to have lunch. The man at the service station said "Oasis!" He was man of few words. :) So we headed that way and found the cafe in a motel! Not sure we went in. Best decidion I have made in a long time!... More

We make this trek at least once a year...and we always look forward to a meal at The Oasis. The Mexican specialties are our favorite! Sopapilla sate fresh and hot. DELISH!

Forget the new "old" fifties diners with their chrome and Marilyn Monroe cut-outs. This place is the real deal. To start, most meals come with homemade soup, a basket of crackers and butter and an iceberg lettuce salad. The cracker basket alone takes you back to a time when meals came with bread or crackers to appease hungry kids. The... More
