The food is amazing and very reasonably priced! The staff is very personable. You HAVE to try the buttermilk pie! It's amazing!
After reading so many complimentary reviews of Placitas Cafe, we decided to try it for dinner. The meal was, at best, very mediocre. To sum it up, our dinner entrees were not tasty or flavorful nor did they have any other redeeming qualities. Bland, sort of like what I remember junior high school lunch in the cafeteria to be like.... More
Unless you are a local, chances are you will be ignored when you enter the dining room. This happened to me on both occasions I went there. Second time and after waiting several minutes, I finally walked out and have never returned. The food is mediocre at best.
Excellent homemade food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. The waiter brought us Buttermilk pie to try and OMG was it the best thing I ever had in my life. You can't explain the taste, it tastes like a combination of creme brulee with cake with flan with butter...ohhh so good. Thank you Placitas Cafe for making my day!
Everything you want from a neighborhood cafe can be found at Placitas Cafe. The only fault is the lack of coffee drinks (Mocha, latte, etc.). They have serve-yourself air pots for coffee, but in a way, that fits with the homey atmosphere. If you are going down I-25, take a quick detour to Placitas Cafe. You'll be glad you did.
Excellent homemade food, cozy atmosphere and friendly people that work there are just a few of the reasons to eat at the Placitas Cafe. I work in the Arte de Placitas Gallery next door and eat there every week. The food is always the best and they make everything from scratch. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, pizza night on Tues. BBQ and... The food here is great. The service could be better, but overall not too bad. Depends on the day I guess. Definitely add the buttermilk pie to your order. So homemade tasting, and it's warm when they bring it. YUM!!
What a gem of a cafe! As a traveler, from the outside I expected this place to offer to-go or quickly prepared food items, or muffins, etc. Instead, I found a great menu with lots of options, and welcoming, friendly staff. They engaged in genuine conversation and made great recommendations. I always enjoy the places where the locals go! So... More
The food is very good. We have eaten there several times and never had a bad meal. The beer selection is great. It is fun but crowded when a band plays. Service is slower also so it is best to get there early on those nights. It has interesting art and after awhile you meet people you know so it... More
This is a hidden secret. "John's" as the locals call it always has good food and an ever better host, John. His laugh is infectious. I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The breakfasts are what your grandmother made you when growing up. The lunches are like an out of the way diner. Always good and more than you... More
