My second kitchen

This is a regular stop after work or on a Friday night; when I just don't want to cook. Great food, huge portions. Service is slow but served up with a few jokes and a beer or a glass of wine. Great New Mexican fare. Breakfast burritos that set up the day nicely. Prices are very reasonable and... read more

A very warm welcome spiked with genuine humor and caring awaits you at this peaceful and easy-going, leisurely paced 'local hangout' just off I-25 on Hwy 165 East a few minutes uphill toward the village of Placitas. A relaxed family-owned local cafe, staffed by owner John, brother Mike, and various sons along with a well-trained wait staff and some great... More

After reading the (negative) review for this restaurant I'm not sure if they were really reviewing the Placitas Cafe or had a ax to grind. We are not locals and had never eaten at the cafe before. We were welcomed and served by a very friendly, chatty and interesting man who told us he was the owner's brother. Our food... More

First we noticed all the cars in front of Placitas Cafe and almost none in front of the other eatery in the shopping center. Resident pooch on the front porch. Inside was a welcoming, casual atomsphere with locals and local art. Great brunch for all three of us. The Reuben was fabulous, with smoked corned beef, tangy slaw, and just... More

My wife, adult son, and I were searching for a new restaurant for our a Sunday morning breakfast/brunch experience. We were coming from both NW & NE Albuquerque to gather together on a beautiful day. We ended up picking the Placitas Cafe, just 15 minutes up I-25 from Paseo del Norte. All I can say is "wow - what a... More

The food is good and the staff much fun. The location is not a drive by You have to head up the mountain just north of Albuquerque on Hwy 165. Great view and fun art. Good for all groups.

We were in town for the 2014 Balloon Fiesta back in October. In the house we rented we had a menu and we decided to check it out - you always want to go to places that are not at home! We were a large party of 6 and seated immediately. I believe Mike was our host. He took our... More

On highway 165 about 15 minutes from the Santa Ana Casino in Bernalillo, NM, my husband and I have a marvelous experience at the Placitas Café. I was so excited to have a variety of vegetarian choses. I had a vegetarian, portabella mushroom burger that was amazing and so filling I took half home with me. We had chili cheese... More

All we wanted was a decent meal before a concert, quick and good. We got a full experience, great service, delicious food at a very reasonable price. This place is a gem! I ordered Leslie soup. It was chock full of fresh vegetables, spinach, mushrooms, red pepper, potatoes, pinto beans, filling and yummy. My husband had the buffalo enchiladas, because... More
