Always a treasure...

An added bonus to dining at Blade's is in taking the short drive up to Placitas which always gives the feeling of escaping from citification and especially if you take St.Rd. 313 (Old Camino Real/Rte. 66 (pre 1937)) through Sandia. In any event, went to have one of my FAVs, the Beef Wellington (one... read more

The service, food and atmosphere of Blades are consistently excellent. We have eaten there dozens of times over the past few years and have always had delicious food and a very nice time. I'm a bit confused about reviews of burned meat and poorly cooked vegetables. Chef has routinely made my steaks a proper medium-rare and the vegetables are correctly... More

My friend and I had the spinach salad, chicken breast and a hamburger. The hamburger was 1/4inch thick and burned, made from the cheapest meat. No dressing on the salad and undercooked vegetables with the dry chicken. Obviously an awful eating experience for upwards of $20 a plate. Had to ask for the ketchup to go with the French fries,... We went with another couple and 3 of us had good to very good meals. The duck confit salad was dissapointing. The arugula was just in a tangled mass and the duck was without flavor. The chicken livers were good, but too rare for my preference. Enjoyed, but will not order again. Steak was delicious as was the salmon.

We were very impressed with our dining experience at Blades Bistro last night. The staff members were friendly and clearly wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. It was apparent that Blades has regulars that come in frequently, and I don't blame them. The food, ambiance and staff would make me a regular if I lived nearby. We enjoyed the... More

I had given up on Blades Bistro after my last experience with them but our friends seem to think they can overlook the numerous times Blades has failed to deliver the service and customer relations required of a restaurant in the class that they aspire to. We had reservations, made on Open Table, for 6 people at 7pm, New Years... More

Yesterday I just wanted to try a new place, so we ended up at blades bistro. This place was great! Everything I ordered was better than I expected and for the first time in awhile I loved my entire restaurant experience. The menu is on the expensive side, but once you taste the quality of the food made it worthwhile.

Tucked away in a modest Placitas shopping center on the shoulder of the Sandia Mountains, Blades is simply one of the best restaurants in New Mexico. For Kevin & Anja Bladergroen, Blades is a labor of love, with a special Dutch touch, and they love sharing it with their patrons. The dining is international bistro at its best: honest dishes... With the exception of an over salted entrée, the meal and service were perfect. Grown up atmosphere. We were greeted warmly by the staff and seated promptly. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and checked on us frequently. I was offered a taste of the wine we were considering. The peach caprese salad was wonderful and we sat between 2 tables... More
