Stopped at this log cabin building while driving thru Gila National Forest. Lady owner served up a green chile cheeseburger made with two whole fresh Hatch chilies. Today we tried the Owl Cafe chile cheeseburger in San Antonio, good but not as good as the X-ing! Worth a drive there if you enjoy the forest.

It would be hard to find a more friendly place to eat. On top of that, the Green Chile Bacon Cheese Burger is the best anywhere. Great country menu, delicious homemade pies and cake. Call ahead and make sure they are open.

Breakfast is great. The atmosphere is very "country". The staff is very friendly and attentive. My coffee cup was never empty.

The Elk X-ing is a fun destination for good food if you're up in the Mimbres Valley or on your way to the Gila. Charming rustic interior and good food.
