La Posta is always my stop

I travel through Las Cruces once a year and always have dinner at La Posta. The margaritas are always good, and the food is almost always good....like many restaurants in smaller places it must depend on which cook is on duty. This last time dinner wasn't as great as I remember. Service was not... read more

Driving in New Mexico and Texas can be daunting, with long, uneventful stretches of road. Perhaps that's why La Posta is such a great find in the old district of Las Cruces. The building is very old, and, according to the sign, its legendary hospitality has been enjoyed by a multitude of famous and infamous Southwestern and U.S. personalities. The... More

Great food but have to put up with service thats not the best. First the bad. Arrive and told there is a thirty minute wait. Place doesnt seem that packed and after 30 minutes they walk me to my table. As I'm going in I'm passing multiple empty tables and lots of waiters. What the heck! After being seated it... More

Used to be my favorite restaurant when visiting Mesilla. The quality of the food has gone downhill. I order the chicken chimichangas and received them cold as if they were sitting there for a while. The sauce on top also had no taste. I tried the steak my wife had ordered and it was definitely over cooked. The service was... More

Recommended by the KOA RV Park. It was about 5 miles away. Had to wait 30 minutes and waited at the bar. Great Margaritas but a little pricey, 8.75 and lots of ice. The waitress was ok. Not very attentive and service was slow. The food was ok. I think it's more of a tourist attraction. The bathroom smelled so... More

as part of a recent music festival, I chose to treat one of the opening acts to a lunch on the way to the gig...., treated the entire band/crew and artist to an amazing lunch at La Posta and it set the tone for the rest of their time in my company. Win!

We had the 'La Chica' and the enchilada plate. Both were perfectly seasoned, not too spicy, but not too mild, sauces were not sloppy and overused, all with excellent flavor. Our waiter was on top of it, and the food came out quickly from the kitchen. Very good quality food and service, excellent value! There is a shady garden outside... More

What a wonderful treat to find Lla Posta! Front desk clerk at our hotel recommended it and it did not disappoint. Sure the bar was a little slow, but the El Classico Grande margarita was the best I've had in awhile. Had the shrimp ceviche to start and it was delicious. Guacamole, beans, green chile cheese enchilada, pork tamal and... More

During the afternoon my husband and I went to La Posta to have margaritas in the outdoor patio area. I particularly recommend the cucumber jalapeno margarita. We had a good impression of the restaurant, so we returned later in the evening for dinner and split one of the specialty plates. Even sharing the dinner, we had too much food! The... More

It had small & large rooms all over the place. It was very historic in ambience. Service was prompt & friendly. Stay away from the tequila drinks...rocket fuel, yikes! They have a parrot that can scare the socks off a person. Very enjoyable.
