A Nice Surprise

We are fans of La Posta and have enjoyed their meals for years. For some reason we hadn't been back for quite a while, so we journeyed over from El Paso for lunch, and to visit the quaint Mesilla village. The margaritas were terrible and the food was cold. My husband and I were traveling with friends and we ate here because of the high ratings on various websites. The restaurant certainly has all the charm that we were expecting in terms of decor and architecture. However, the food was bland and worse than that, our waiter had a very... More

Traveling to El Paso for a family reunion/birthday party we decided to stop and visit where we went to college 40 years ago. La Posta was a great place then and now, Food is reasonably prices and tastes great, service is very friendly and relatively quick once you are seated at your table. A must do experience if ever in... More

House margarita was worst I've ever had. The mix tasted like it was carbonated and just wrong. Got the Posta combination plate. All was mediocre. Attentive service tho.

Having lived in Northern New Mexico and completely enjoying the food, we totally miss it now that we live in southern Arizona. When passing by Las Cruces on the way home from Texas, I thought lets stop and get some NM chili. Just happened to find La Posta and fell in LOVE..!!! Mary had a pork burrito smothered in green... We have visited La Posta four separate times. Both for Breakfast and Dinner. I would guess the location is what keeps bringing our friends back. It is conveniently located for them. The evening waiter we had was great!!! We were not very excited about the food we received there. They use dark meat chicken and twice I had to pick... More

This is an old Southwest building. The v restaurant is divided into many small dining rooms that surround a central room. We both had a cup of Posole soup with tortillas. The soup was excellent and very filling. The restroom was clean as was the restaurant. The service was quick and responsive to any needs we had. The restaurant is... More

My first meal-sized Mexican-tinged shrimp cocktail was memorable. Just off the square, the location bears a bit of touring when the shops and historical sites are open.

This place, which is quite large, seems to be jammed all the time. It is, of course, very old and historic, and has a long-established reputation. The menu features the range of drinks and Mexican dishes you would expect, the service is speedy, and the food is very good. A couple of things to keep in mind: you will need... More

I expected some ambiance and instead, I got cold and loud. The food was average and the price was not.
