Good food, atmosphere and server

Excellent queso and salsa. Restaurant is very neat inside. I had the stacked enchiladas, hubby had tacos and my son had the chicken quesadilla... All three were good. Definitely going back soon.

Last time we ate at La Posta (about two years ago) they gave be some of the best enchiladas I've ever had. This time they were not great: nothing but cheese and rather odd tortillas in a mediocre sauce. My companion liked his dinner, but he'll pretty much eat anything. His opinion is why I've given the restaurant three instead... More

A fixture in Mesilla since 1939, serving Mexican food and the most incredible steaks. Their Margaritas are a must!

This place has lots of history to it (Jesse James was held here?). It's popular (even with the locals) so you might have to wait on a table. If so, there'll be lots to look at, read, etc. I had the chicken chimichangas. They were good, but not over the top. The sides were your normal fare (shredded lettuce, diced... More

Had dinner tonight after a long days drive. I looked forward to eating at La Posta de Mesilla, because my parents, who have since passed away, always talked about it with pleasure. Today, I was very disappointed in the service. When I was ordering, I specifically asked the waitress if the plate I ordered included a salad. She said that... More

There is so much to like about this restaurant's atmosphere which really enhances the entire diner experience. It's located in the Old New Mexico neighborhood of Mesilla which is rich in history and southwestern/Mexican culture. The interior of the building has many different rooms, all preserved in the rustic-Mexican style. Waitresses wear traditional brightly-colored and embroidered Mexican dresses. Your senses... More

Oh my goodness! Definitely worth the trip. We got one of the house specials - it included queso, guacamole, a HUGE plate of food, drink, a sopapilla, and dessert! All for $15.95! What a deal. We took half of it home and will have dinner for tonight. Service was excellent - very accommodating with so much left over food. Even... More

Being from Tennessee, it is impossible to find authentic Mexican food. La Posta has it. My favorite was the Chili Relleno. WOW! The red & green chili sauce is out of this world. At La Posta, you will have an authentic Mexican food experience. It is not about temperature hot. It is all about flavor and heat in the peppers... More

No trip to Southern New Mexico is complete without a visit to La Posta in Old Mesilla. A restaurant building steeped in history, the current ownership has made some significant changes to the facilities over the past decade but the food and character remain the same. It is a great place to go with friends, family and anyone else who... More
