The Double Eagle is a nice, historic restaurant which normally serves great food. We've had a lot of meals here, and we enjoy going to their Sunday brunch with friends. Until our last visit. First off, the waitstaff is attentive and does a wonderful job. This visit we ordered our usual "Mimosa's", which is a Champagne and orange juice cocktail.... More

Charming place for Mexican food. Meals were Beef Fajitas and El Plato Mexicano of which both were excellent. Their double happy hour was an added bonus. Our server, Santiago was wonderful. Quaint restaurant in the Historic Old Mesilla Plaza. Great shops also.

Our waiter and bartender (Channing?) were outstanding. When we entered I asked Channing if he made a good margarita and he said yes. I then mistakenly ordered a house margarita at the table and didn't like it. Channing quickly made me one of his 'good' ones, and it was great! It didn't hurt that he was very easy on the... More

We were in La Mesilla for the day just looking at the old historic plaza and decided to have some lunch. Service was friendly and prompt. We each had the daily special of Bark BBQ Beef with Cold Slaw $8.50, which was very good. The atmosphere is excellent for a romantic night or special occasion. Parking is free but limited.... More

The restaurant is located in a historic building on the on the plaza in Mesilla. There are two choices for dining. There is a bar and and a less formal restaurant in front and a very nice dining room in the back. I have been to The Double Eagle many times since my first visit in 1974. The service and the... Reserved Eagle dining room, got Peppers. Had to complain twice to get moved to area we reserved. Then slow service, noisy, and filthy chandeliers. Bland presentation: food served owhite plates, without any garnishes. Salads nothing extra. Duck was excellent; lamb chops just OK. Rice pilaf resembled Chinese sticky rice. Foie gras was supposedly in mashed potatoes. Really? Bill was $101... More

Moved here 3 years ago, went to Double Eagle regularly for fine dining, but last few visits show things changing, and not for the better. New chefs menu interesting, but have had items unavailable, staff less than attentive, prices $$$ to $$$$. The bar continues to be an amazing atmosphere, good drinks, and good bartenders. Was a Must Do when... More

This place has it all Charm, outstanding food (chili reannos, tacos!!!), rich history and good staff. Do not pass through the area without a stop here. Sit in the covered courtyard with the fountain.

There is something very comforting about going to a Classic Bar, besides the alcohol of course. This is an established location that reminds me of the bar in San Fran where the Martini was created, or classic western hotel bars in Durango, Telluride, Tuscan or on the show "Hell on Wheels". Enjoy.

We had dinner here in the nice restaurant. Beautiful interior decor! Worth just seeing that. We all had steaks and they were all cooked to perfection and delicious. Our waiter was awesome (Albert). Totally worth going here. We also stopped at their bar a couple of times for drinks....the best bar to stop at in my opinion. Think old world... More
