we had lunch here today. It is a wonderful old historic building with lots of antiques and history. There is a charming garden atrium type place in the center. I had the ceviche and my boyfriend had the top sirloin. I had a bite of his steak and it was very good. The chips and salsa are addicting... read more

We drove over from Ruidoso to Old Messilla for lunch, we had eaten here last year and wanted to try again. Service though slow was friendly and courteous by Cindi. I had the seafood salad and my spouse had the flatbread. Food was decent and the atmosphere excellent. Building is old and was a HQ for the confederate army. Lots... More

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” And Double has that, the food is more then words can say. The timing of being served drinks and meal are right on time. The management and servers are out standing to vistors.

PROS: The history of the restaurant is unbelievable, and the ambience of the inner dining room matches. They have the only dry aging steak room in the state of New Mexico. The bar is fantastic and they have a very nice Scotch collection. The menu has a nice mix of steak and other items. The appetizer offerings is good too.... More

I am taken to both Las Cruces and El Paso on business occasionally. I will drive the three miles southwest from Las Cruces or rough 40 miles due north from El Paso to eat here. Half the restaurant is for fine upscale American/Continental food, it is the other half that I go for; some of the best Southwest Mexican food... More

This is a place that I have been going to for 20 years and I have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and drinks. This is also a very good place to come to Brunch at the offerings at the buffet are great. Definitely a must go place. Great for a date or with friends and family

The Double Eagle Restaurant is worth taking the time to visit. The heritage of this historic building is like none other! It is a romantic, beautiful place to have a cocktail. The old bar is filled with exquisite old art and chandlers. Every time I have a meal I am disappointed. I feel the portions are little and over priced. You... More

We ordered 2 drinks and dinner at the same time. Big mistake! Shortly after our drinks arrived my wife's salad was put on the table. She was half finished with the salad and dinner arrived. A 4 oz filet and a twice baked potato. No garnish. The plate looked empty. I ordered a chicken dish which was good with a... More

At there several times over our 5 years. We loved the court yard and all the stories of hauntings! We still have fond memories after 20 years!

At least once a year I have been to the Double Eagle for the last 15 years and it has not changed. The location is perfect, right on the plaza, the building dates back to 1850’s I believe. The restaurant is appointed with great furnishings. If you visit the restaurant, ask if you may look at all the rooms. There... More
