We were told dinner in the dining room would be $45 for each of us. We thought that sounded high but decided to splurge, expecting the very best in service and food quality/presentation, etc. My husband had a 12-oz. ribeye (which was nowhere near 12 ounces, but it was still good, he said) and a small glob of mashed potatoes,... After a day at the horse races we drove to the resort for the sole purpose of relaxing and having a nice dinner. We were not disappointed !!!!! Food was fabulous & so was the service. First class all the way. Will definitely return when back in Ruidoso area. Great view from the restaurant, very relaxing.

We stayed at the Hotel and ate at Wendall's twice for dinner. Food was very flavorful, fresh and delicious. The waiter had great recommendations too. I would definitely go again when we get back to the Ruidoso area.

The best breakfast omelet I have ever had or made. Chorizo, avocado, cheeses and frest fruit on the side with hash browns. Large portion, but the omelet was so delicious that I had to eat slowly to finish it. Restaurant with white linen tablecloths, very friendly and professional servers, gorgeous view of lake and golf course. Great prices also. Large... More

I took my wife here for her birthday. The food was outstanding but the service was slow. All in all, we enjoyed the food so much the slow service wasn't enough to ruin the experience. We'll definitely be back.

Wendall's is very good but you pay for that quality and service. They serve a sauce with their steaks that I prefer on the side, their scalloped au gratin potatoes are wonderful and they serve an Elk stew that is one of the best things I have eaten. I have a couple of photos and will update this review with... More

Dinner at sunset here was really only marred by the clouds obscuring the sun, and a close-by large party of overly loud and inebriated patrons. The room is quite nice, we had a window table, and our server was quite possibly the maitre'd (since there were two side-by-side large parties). He was very personable, accomodating, and professional. Our food was... More

The food is good and the service is okay. The setting is spectacular! I enjoy eating hear because of the view of the lake and mountains.

Had dinner at sunset at Wendell's and the venue was nice but food was average. Started with shrimp cocktail - very good and spinach salad which was equally good. The entree was a disappointment. Ordered the turf & surf - the lobster tail was very good but the fillet ordered medium rare was dry and had no-flavor. My husband ordered... More

Just for that experience alone it is worth it! Entrees are large so be hungry. Had a that large salad and then sirloin tips from the appetizer menu and I was delightful full. Husband had the small rib eye steak. No room for dessert. $$$
