On the road in I-10 near Lordsburg

If you find yourself near here and are little hungry... It's worth the stop. A little off the beaten path but the food is good and they always have a smile.. This is our fourth or fifth time here while on the road. Have only eaten the Mexican food. Not sure about anything else they serve.

There are several renowned Mexican places in southern NM. And they are good. Love the Red Chile at La Posta in the Mesilla neighborhood of Las Cruces. But El Charro is something a little more home town spot. A split diner, family restaurant, and country night club situated right on the Union Pacific rail line, El Charro fits the needs... More

There are few choices in town but unfortunately we chose this one. While the service was slow for a Sunday evening, the food made the experience even worse. The restaurant was about 40% full, mainly with locals. The location of the restaurant is not pleasant but that did not deter us from trying to find Mexican food during our trip.... More

Humble atmosphere and hurried staff but incredible authentic food. It's hard to find green and red chile this delicious outside of the home.

Unremarkable architecture and ambiance. Asked for water, never got it. Abuelita who seated us very personable. Best I can say about the food is that it was "sustenance". Chile relleno was crispy on the outside, soggy inside. And was that Velveeta in my relleno? Yep. Not sure I had cheese in my enchilada. Nuff said for you to make a... More

Walked to this restaurant, and had to walk all the way around a stalled train, but worth it. Outside looks pretty beat up, but waitress was friendly. The chips and salsa were good. I had the chicken taco special. It was very tasty. Served with Spanish rice and refried beans. Usually I ignore the rice but this was very fluffy... More

We were making a long road trip and El Charro was recommended to us as a "must stop" restaurant. My husband really enjoyed the green chile con carne. The waitress was very, very nice. Restrooms were clean as was the restaurant. Those are the positives. On the negatives, I didn't know it was possible to make a bad enchilada but... More

According to a woman at the Chamber of Commerce, El Charro is now the ONLY restaurant in town that serves alcoholic drinks! That's OK, it was enough, after a long day on the road. The Mexican food here (also some burgers, chicken and pork chops on the menu), was just fine -cooked to our specs, and served with a friendly... More

Went there with a group of 5 other people. Service was a bit slow, but the food all came at once. Reminded me more of fast food, but it was ok. No one complained. Tables are all in the open in one big room, so no privacy.
