We were making a long road trip and El Charro was recommended to us as a "must stop" restaurant. My husband really enjoyed the green chile con carne. The waitress was very, very nice. Unremarkable architecture and ambiance. Asked for water, never got it. Abuelita who seated us very personable. Best I can say about the food is that it was "sustenance". Chile relleno was crispy on the outside, soggy inside. And was that Velveeta in my relleno? Yep. Not sure I had cheese in my enchilada. Nuff said for you to make a... More

Walked to this restaurant, and had to walk all the way around a stalled train, but worth it. Outside looks pretty beat up, but waitress was friendly. The chips and salsa were good. I had the chicken taco special. It was very tasty. Served with Spanish rice and refried beans. Usually I ignore the rice but this was very fluffy... More

Restrooms were clean as was the restaurant. Those are the positives. On the negatives, I didn't know it was possible to make a bad enchilada but... More

According to a woman at the Chamber of Commerce, El Charro is now the ONLY restaurant in town that serves alcoholic drinks! That's OK, it was enough, after a long day on the road. The Mexican food here (also some burgers, chicken and pork chops on the menu), was just fine -cooked to our specs, and served with a friendly... More

Went there with a group of 5 other people. Service was a bit slow, but the food all came at once. Reminded me more of fast food, but it was ok. No one complained. Tables are all in the open in one big room, so no privacy.

Just happened to be driving down the main drag of Lordsburg when we spotted this place across the railroad tracks in a very unusual location. At first glance the diner might say no way I'm not eating there. Well you would be missing some very authentic Mexican food at a good price. Our server was a much older woman (probably... More

We were passing though on our cross-country move and stopped at El Charro. While the exterior is not exactly beautiful the food did not disappoint. With hefty portions and minimal prices it was a great pit stop. Service was not exactly friendly, but it was fine for a quick stop on the road.

If you like restaurunt chains and factory food, give El Charro a miss. If you like a local experience that hasnt changed in decades, or even the "hole-in-the-wall" experience, El Charro is not to be missed. Everything is good to very good, but the chile rellenos are awesome ... not your typical batter and better than you get about anywhere... More

Other people have written about the setting... Not elegant. But the restaurant is clean and everyone is working hard. The right-hand rooms serve beer and wine. The left-hand room is alcohol-free. Our dinner was great! The menudo was deep, authentic, delicious, rich. The enchiladas, tacos and tostadas were really good, and the salsa perfectly spicy. 2 Dos Equis, a cold... More
