We originally found this restaurant chain in Lubbock, Tx, on our drive West. So we sought out another one in Roswell & then El Paso. Hence, this Cattle Baron was our 4th time using this chain. And we weren't disappointed. It's great to have such an extensive salad bar, to enjoy on its own, or as a side to steak... More

This was by far the best restaurant we went to in three days in Las Cruces! Great salad bar. Good meal. Service was excellent. Went to try other restaurants in Las Cruces. Should have stuck with this one.

You know that smell of dirty dish rags when you walk into a low end restaurant? Well that's what I smelled and should have turned around right then but we didn't. When we first sat down I noticed the curtains that were right next to us looked like someone had used them as a napkin.. enough to ruin your appetite... More

I enjoy the salad bar tremendously. There is a huge variety of items, all fresh. They have a jalapeno ranch salad dressing that is very good, it actually has a little bit of a bite. Generally the beef is very good, the past two times or so it was lacking in tenderness and flavor. We haven't given up on it... More

I wandered around the extensive salad bar looking for inspiration, but came away with an empty plate and shared my husband's Caesar salad, which in itself was nice. My 8oz steak was fine and came with a baked potato and small dish of "jus". My husband had the shrimp pasta, again nice but not particularly hot, and with a beer,... More

Our family used to always go to Cattle Baron for a special meal, but they decided to change the menu. They dropped a number of family favorites off the menu, and we just lost interest. There are other restaurants in town with more interesting menu items. We now only go to Cattle Baron for an occasional lunch. They still have... More

We had heard that they had gotten a lot better, but alas I did not find it to be so. I ordered the prime rib, my favorite and supposedly one of their specials. I asked for it to be medium rare. It came a nice cut, not too fatty, but definitely well done. No pink at all on it which... More

I have eaten at several Cattle Barons in the past and the food is always good. What i was most impressed about this visit was the service that Tamara provided. She was attentive, super friendly, and took care of things before I even had to ask. She represented this business well!
