Ok food, great service

I went here for dinner with my family after they recommended it. We had an order of guacamole for an appetizer and it was meh. A little runny and had a strange tangy flavor, not sure what. I did like that they served the chips hot. For dinner I ordered the tamale plate. They were so-so and the masa... read more

Took our two young boys there while in Las Cruces on mini-vacation. El Sombrero was recommended by a local friend. The wait staff was friendly. Amazingly, the kid plates were fresh and looked appetizing. I enjoyed the suggested entree by our waiter which was a non menu item (caliente chicken fajita burrito). The Negra Modelos were ice cold and the... More

This place is very good the Chicken Tampico is my very favorite but everything I have had is good. Gets really busy at 6pm on so go a little early and beat the crowds. The wait staff is always friendly One of my favorites in Las Cruces

In a town filled with Mexican restaurants, El Sombrero is the best of the best! It's the real deal, as authentic as Mexican food can be prepared. You name it --- fajitas, rice, sopapillas, tacos, refried or whole pinto beans, burritos, nachos, salads of all sorts, salsas, guacamole, and pico de gallo, huevos rancheros at any hour or a deluxe... Killer tacos and the best salsa in town! This place has to get on your list if visiting Las Cruces. And just in case you didn't know, the shirts tell us El Sombrero is The Hat.

This place came recommended I I thought I'd try it out. Staff was very friendly. The salsa served at the table was excellent; I couldn't get enough. Wish I could buy it in a store. Ordered the green chile smothered burrito with rice and retried beans. The rice and beans weren't anything special, but the burrito was fantastic! I highly... More

One of our standard haunts, El Sombrero remains one of our favorite places for traditional fare. Now that they've added some excellent new healthy and creative salad options, I love it even more. Most of us ordered the Thursday special- a grilled chicken salad with fresh berries, avocado, and citrus balsamic- and it was excellent. Highly recommended!

Excellent menu choices and very authentic flavor. We ordered the chile relleno plate and the stuffed sopapilla platter. The sopapilla platter had a red, green and bean stuffed sopapillas. Each had unique flavor and were tasty. The relleno was equally good. If the weather is nice, eat out on the patio.

Funky little Mexican Restaurant in Las Cruces NM. Food was full of flavor/s with lots of different dishes to meet one’s tastes. Portions were adequate for most hungry appetites. Service was good and the food came within a reasonable period of time.

We had a quick lunch at the El Sombrero Express on the east side of Las Cruces. It had been recommended and we were no disappointed. Tacos and Nachos were very good. Beans and rice were average. Salsa and chips were very good. My only complaint was this store was in a strip mall and apparently they had to haul... More
