Surprisingly Good Mexican Food

We had a quick lunch at the El Sombrero Express on the east side of Las Cruces. It had been recommended and we were no disappointed. Tacos and Nachos were very good. Beans and rice were average. Salsa and chips were very good. My only complaint was this store was in a strip mall and... read more

Funky little Mexican Restaurant in Las Cruces NM. Food was full of flavor/s with lots of different dishes to meet one’s tastes. Portions were adequate for most hungry appetites. Service was good and the food came within a reasonable period of time.

Ate lunch here with a local friend. The food was excellent and the service was good considering how crowded it got for lunch time. Prices were ok maybe a little high but the food and service were good. They can make it spicy if you want.

Went here with my boyfriend. Food was good but the waitress, who said she was the granddaughter of owner, hit on my boyfriend shamelessly the entire time.. Haven't been back.

My husband and I spontaneously decided to go on a Friday night. It was very busy but the waiting area is large and very comfortable and you can look at a menu and order a drink while you wait. I would recommend the peach fuzzy navel but BE CAREFUL, it would be easy to drink 2 of these. They have... More

Whenever I go home to visit, we usually make sure to stop off here. Basically every Mexican food restaurant south of T or C will be good and authentic. (I cannot say the same for Albuquerque. Point and case, my good friend from ABQ, who went to school w/ me makes pilgrimages to Las Cruces just to eat here.) Anyway,... More

Really bad, overpriced, and slow getting food. Gringo Tex-Mex. Salsa tasted gross and possibly rotten. The meat was seasoned Italiany. The tacos were fajitas. The gorditas tasted like Taco Bell. Not liking it. Gave them two chances, both were bombs. No thanks, Si Senor is ten times better, ten times faster and ten times less expensive!

I eat here pretty regularly. The salsa is good. Chips not so good. Thin and processed tasting. Good Queso. Rainbow enchiladas are good and check for daily specials like calabacitas, tacos, chalupas, chimichangas. Decent food, good college staff service, always noisy and busy. Beer and wine. TV's always on. Green Chile burgers pretty good here too. I like the Sizzling... More

Met some friends here for lunch. The wait staff is very congenial and made me feel welcome even though my friends were more than 1/2 hour late. I could tell there were many regulars eating in the restaurant. The food is good, especially for those of us who do not eat hot chile. Many places in Cruces cater only to... More

good food, great atmosphere and really nice special recipes, nice location in the central part of Las Cruces, good beer, good service without it being something where you feel you owe the people that are bringing you a dinner you are going to pay for... GREAT CHILI....
