My husband and I love going to El Sombrero's. Everyone of the servers are always so nice to us and the food is delicious. Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Great food, and fantastic service!!

Many of the restaurants in Las Cruces are new Mexican style. We felt, living there, this was among the best choices. Tacos, enchiladas, burritos, even the salads go the extra mile. The burritos-you get them the way you like them, one has many choices, for instance, gravy or queso - it makes all the difference in taste.. The salads are... More

This is one of the best restaurants in Las Cruces. I usually order Huevos Rancheros smothered in Green chili. The food is so fresh and, even though the servings are substantial, I never leave feeling like I stuffed myself. If you want to serve Mexican food in Las Cruces, you have to do it right and El Sombrero sets the... More

A recent lunch at El Sombrero reminded us how the small things they do make a big difference. The warm chips and cool salsa start the meal right; such a nice touch to warm the chips. We tried to eat a little lighter and our server Marlissa was glad to accomodate a request for only 2 tostadas compuestas, not 3.... More

Last night three of each had green enchiladas for only $28+tip. We only drank water, but ate 2rounds of chips before the enchiladas. Great service, clean, welcoming!,

Whenever I visit my "home town" of Las Cruces, dinner at El Sombrero is a must. Year in and year out, it's among the top 3 Mexican restaurants in town. The green enchiladas and red chile con carne are "to die for". Can't beat the prices, and the servers/staff are usually friendly and efficient. I usually have the Combo #3,... More

We have eaten here many times over the years. No more. The last few visits have been an extreme disappointment. Today we had stale chips served with a spicy watery salsa. Iced tea was so sweet it hurt your teeth. Our favorite carnitas is now a super salty small cubes of pork served in soft corn tortillas that, without exaggeration,... More

The food, service and atmosphere are all average. The prices are higher than some of the better Mexican restaurants in the area.

We love good, fresh Mexican food. Only beer and wine - had wine margaritas, but sangria was excellent. Place was busy, but service was excellent. Not a place for a "special" evening, but good food.

I've eaten here since the early 70's when it was behind the old Welcome Inn and it never disappoints. Service is always great, quickly served and a good Mexican beer selection (American too). My faves are the folded tacos and green and red enchiladas, salsa is hot (love) and the chips are served warm. Our sons grew up eating here... More
