Hot-Hot-Hot!!

Nellie's is a long-time institution in Las Cruces, NM. They have some of the best Mexican food around, but it's not for "wimps"! Their enchiladas are "mucho caliente"!!! Also "mucho delicioso"!!

We arrived just before they opened at 8:00 am and there were several people waiting to get in. We were warmly greeted, our server treated us like regulars even though this was our first visit. The red chili with meat and eggs was delicious and hubby loved the green chili scrambled eggs. Food was served promptly and the restaurant was... More

This is the place to go if you want authentic.. All the locals hang out here. Have a number 1 with both red and green sauce.

I lived in Las Cruces for years and frequented Nellie's from time to time. I have been in Albuquerque for 16 years now, and whenever I go back to LC, one of the places I try to go is this one. Josie and her husband have had this restaurant for a long time and it shows. It's like going back... More

If you want real Mexican food this is the place. If you want Taco Bell go down the street. Service was just like it should be, not over bearing. Food was exceptional for lunch. We both had Combination #1 for early lunch @ $8 each. Great taco, enchilada, Mexican beef, rice and beans. Great Stuff! Water was brought to the... More

I went to college in Cruces and this was a favorite place to eat. Took my family there on a recent rd trip and was reminded why it was my favorite place. Mexican food doesn't get any better or more authentic! The chile had some heat but is amazing!! My kids loved the sopas! We were completely satisfied from beginning... More

This is a very casual local place that is open for breakfast and lunch. The green chili chicken enchiladas were the best one's I've ever had. Also loved the salsa, flautas, and chile colorado. I'd bet everything is great here.

The food in Nellie's is excellent, I love it. Authentic Mexican food specializing in chili dishes. It's all very good, you won't be disappointed in the food - guaranteed. The service is the worst in Las Cruces. The only way it could be any worse is if they were unfriendly, but that's not the case. The problem is that the... More

Okay, I like El Sombrero, but if you want the ultimate Mexican food of all deliciousness, it is Nellie's. The only draw back is that they have weird hours. They only serve lunch and only on certain days, which makes getting a table difficult, as these limited hours result in large crowds.
