Best Chile Rellenos in the World!

This is a local treasure and well worth the scenic drive north from El Paso or south from Las Cruces. The chiles rellenos are the star but the tacos and enchiladas are excellent. Try the combination plates for a taste of everything. I usually get the 3 Relleno plate smothered in red enchilada... read more

We drive the 20 miles from west El Paso to Chope's about once a month because it's a nice outing; especially if you drive through the upper valley on Westside Rd. to NM Hwy. 28. The original Chope's is the bar (you can order food there, as well) where you'll see folks from all walks of life: businessmen, bikers, cowboys,... More

This little dive has quality homestyle Mexican food you cant get anywhere else. If you are willing to drive a little ways outside of Las Cruces or El Paso this is the place to go. They serve a wide variety of Mexican dishes and everything is homemade. The scenery driving from Las Cruces is also an added bonus. Highly recommended.

Extremely slow service, food was absolutely terrible. I had cheese enchiladas.. The cheese was not melted inside the tortilla. Chile relleno was way undercooked which resulted in a soggy mess.

The chicken enchiladas are fantastic. The only drawback is that the restaurant isn't open every day or all day. Plan accordingly.

We found out about this place when we stayed with a local in El Paso and we loved it. There is a great family feel about the place and judging from the line up to get in it would pay to get there early to avoid waiting. We arrived right on opening time and within 20 minutes there was a... More

This place is the real deal. The food is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. And the ambiance is just terrific. The place has been there since 1946, and it drips with history and authenticity. The people run it and serve your food are part of the original family. My friends in Las Cruces think this is... The menu is outstanding Traditional New Mexico food done like it was decades ago. Taste is different, more authentic than any other local place. Combo plates are the best. Enchiladas, tacos and rellenos are so delicious and you got to do the sopapia at the end. They do theirs better than anywhere else. Very light and flaky. Love this place.... More

Best Mexican food in the area. Family run, so the wait staff is sometimes a little off, but be patient. Its all worth it. Recommend the chile rellanos and enchilada dishes.. Closes early and also closed Sun and Mon.
