Where the locals eat.

We live about 35 minutes north of Hatch and shop and do our banking there. There are several places to eat that are very good. Some you have to wait in line to get a hamburger. If you want to eat where the locals eat try the Valley Cafe. Not a very big place but the food is very good.... read more

We were driving through Hatch on a Monday and stopped at Valley Cafe for lunch around 12:15PM. The Valley Cafe is small and very plain with about 8 tables inside. The place was packed - mostly locals with a few passers through like us. There was only one server so we waited for a few minutes until she could take... More

Very nice server, just the right amount of attention. I had the combination of a crispy taco, enchilada with green chili and chile relleno which I really liked. The taco meat wasn't over seasoned and the relleno wasn't over stuffed. The green chile sauce on the enchilada wasn't overly hot. Their salsa with the chips however is very hot! My... More

On a road trip thru Hatch, we decided to check the valley cafe (Sparky only opens Thu to Sun). It was 2pm, all 8 tables were empty - not for long, by 2:15 half the restaurant was full. Becky was most charming. The food arrived within minutes: the guacamole was fresh and tasty, the burgers spicy, juicy and absolutely delicious.... More

We drove into Hatch and saw lots of cars in front of the Valley Café. We parked across the street and were a little concerned about crossing the highway that runs through town. My wife has a knee injury and has to use a cane but we did not need to worry as traffic in both directions stopped to allow... More

Had lunch and ordered taco plate. Ask for their whole beans instead of refried. The taco shells were basic store bought, not homemade and the meat was ground beef. I thought their salsa was very good. The place could use some TLC but otherwise it was good.

For a small family run restaurant, this place is excellent. We had not planned to eat here, but glad we did. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was freshly made, and very tasty. The atmosphere is genuine southern New Mexico. I had the combination plate of taco, enchilada, and chile relleno served with rice and beans. I... More

Enjoyed some authentic New Mexican food. Very small cafe with about 7-8 tables. Friendly staff and food was fresh. Prices were good. Lunch was less than $20 for 2.

We dropped by for lunch on our way to Arizona two days before Christmas. It is a comfortable little hometown eatery. No pretentions. The place was full when we arrived. But it didn't take long to be served. We ordered chicken enchiladas and a combination plate. Both met our expectations, based on previous recommendations. The sauces were very spicy and... More
