Travelled up to Hatch on Sunday (4-13-14) for some BBQ. Something has really changed at Sparky's because the BBQ was just about as bad as I have ever tasted. Both the brisket (very fatty) and pulled pork were SO salty that I could not finish my plate. Way too much marinade or salt. Really made my lips pucker. Thank God... More

Driving through New Mexico we hoped to make it up to San Antonio NM for either Owl Cafe or Buckhorn Green Chile Cheeseburger. Luckily, we read of Sparky's renown and took the 45 minute detour up I-25 to Hatch. Not hard to miss Sparky's, as Hatch itself appears to be an abandoned Ghost Town from the Twilight Zone. Interesting update... More

Found this place by accident after a day of rock crawling. It is wonderful! Smelled so good we had to stop and eat. The green chilli cheeseburger is really great! The brisket and smoked sausage was heaven my husband said with a yummy barbecue sauce. Topped off with the fries and the pineapple cole slaw was a delicious meal. Well... More

This place is a hoot! Plus the food is great. I had a pulled pork sandwich, which was delicious, my husband really liked his green chili cheeseburger. Looking at all the signs and "statues" is fun. Only in Hatch and Sparky's would you see a big robot out front, Colonel Sander's sitting on a bench right by Ron McDonald! Fast... More

Brought here by friends and so glad they took us. Always up for a good burger and the green chili cheese burger hit the spot! We shared sides of cole slaw, with pineapple, which was just the right counter to the heat from the chilis and the corn with green chilis, which one of us loved and other found too... More

This is a funky hole in the wall with great informal food---green chile cheese burger, pulled pork were excellent! Nothing fancy but very satisfying. Order at counter and food brought to table.

When there's a line out the door in a tiny town like Hatch (even at 1:30), that means you have to try it. My husband and daughter have been raving about this place, so I had to try it when I went through Hatch. I got the 1/4 pound green chile cheeseburger and a Reeses shake. The meat patty is... More

I've never stopped here before, but on a tip from a friend we stopped as we travelled through. I am so glad we did! Affordable, tasty burgers. Clean restrooms! Great service, and a fun lunch stop.

Sparky's is easy to spot when you travel down the main drag of Hatch. The population of the town is roughly matched by the line outside the place. I ordered its famed Green Chili Cheeseburger with fries (the large steak variety) and some lemon pie. The burger, which is char-grilled, is absolutely delicious and the chilies are tasty and hot.... We stopped in this little spot in tiny Hatch, NM on a recent vacation. You order at the counter, they give you a number, then bring your food to your table. There are a few inside tables and more outside. The main attraction is a variety of burgers with famous Hatch green chiles on top. We are vegetarian but they... More
