We stopped in for lunch on our drive to New Mexico, once you walk in you get this somewhat awe feeling looking at the lobby. The double staircase makes it look stately and you can get a sense of what it would've been like in its full glory days when all those classic movie stars stayed there. The restaurant was... More

The food is very good but equally fun is just reading the menu. The menu is essentially a movie narrative with entrees for lunch and dinner named after celebrities. It's fun to try and remember which films they were in. We had both dinner and breakfast here and really enjoyed both. The Southwest flavors are genuinely good and our waitress,... More

On entering the lobby, I was completely distracted by the plethora of things to look at and the huge dark timbers in the space. Upstairs where the restrooms are the walls are covered in autographed photos of olden day film stars who stayed on location at this hotel - a lot of fun remembering them on screen. The restaurant itself... More

There are a lot of reviews on this place and they go all over the map, so it is fair to add mine. We wanted to stop in Gallop for lunch on Historic Rte. 66 and we read many reviews to pick a place. We picked this place and we experienced all the positives and none of the negatives. Some... More

Love to eat at the El Rancho whenever we pass thru Gallup. Breakfast is especially good - I love their huevos rancheros and the "Atole" blue corn hot cereal. They serve a good dinner as well, and the hotel is a fun place to see, even if you are not spending the night.

This place is better than the reviews suggest. Please realize that this is a local restaurant, and food is cooked to the standards of the local culture. Here, burgers are never "thick and juicy" . They are cooked well, and best and most often with green chile. Don't judge these burgers by big city standards! Also, the Indian culture is... More

it needs some help on the menu. the eggs were cooked to order. the bacon crisp, the pancakes ok. the French toast was basically toast with sweet added. the place has potential and maybe lunch and dinner are better? what it needs is some imagination to get the restaurant on par with the hotel.

Lovely property worth stopping for a quick look around and a drink. Restaurant very average. Plastic paper cloths, but priced like a "proper" restaurant. Food not very good and staff lack lustre at best. We did have a nice couple of beers at the bar though which was nice.
