We have stayed here several times in the past, usually on trips east and west along I 40, but this time we were travelling from Phoenix to Sedona and had to stay here for at least one night because we liked it so much. It has history and character, which the chain hotels don't have. Nice gift shop featuring local... More

We ate breakfast here, and although the pancakes were nice, the ham was cheap processed plastic type and nothing else foodwise stood out. Very average and it cost us $29 for two (without tip). Not on the "revisit" list

Stopped for the night in Gallup and saw the roadside signs. When we checked in, the hotel clerk recommended it as well. Lot's of movie history there. Has a very nice gift shop and interesting front lobby. The food was excellent. Had steak dinner and a Mexican dinner (The Ricardo Montalbon). Many choices of tequila for the margaritas also. So... I have frequented this establishment over the past years and always enjoy the comfortable atmosphere. The staff is friendly and the place has a historical appeal.

I was in the mood for a good steak, so I chose the hotel restaurant. They had some new people who were a bit nervous, I have no problem with that and congratulated them on their new job. The steak was very disappointing; the rib-eye was composed more of fat than meat and a bit overdone. Hopefully they will treat... More

This was the second time we visited this restaurant. We were so looking forward to the excellent meal we had the first time. Unfortunately it just wasn't as good. I'm not sure if the menu has changed but the choices for southwestern / Mexican food was very limited and just not that great. Not sure if we will try this... More

The food was fine, but it's the surroundings that are great! We enjoyed our dinner, but really, I couldn't wait to walk around looking at everything in the hotel lobby of this fascinating, historic building. It was great fun!

Very interesting decor and a good choice of food. Good service. A must for those travelling Route 66. Have a good walk around this amazing hotel when you are there.

We stopped at the El Rancho since we have passed it on some trips back and forth across the country. It was breakfast time since we stayed overnight in Gallup. I would say it was average for breakfast. The service was great but the food was pretty much what you can get anywhere in New Mexico.
