Good food and local color!

We frequently pass through Gallop, not as a destination but on our way to somewhere else. This time we consulted Tripadvisor for an alternative to the fast food restaurants along highway 491. Taking a short detour to downtown Gallop was worth the effort. Jerry's Café has good food, lots of it at a reasonable price and it's a cultural delight!... More

It was almost 9 pm and we drove into town looking for an evening meal before continuing our trip. The place was not easy to find, and the neighborhood it is in is a little intimidating at night. The people inside were all locals, and the atmosphere was very friendly and inviting. We were made welcome, and offered a varied... More

Great food and service. Got there around 11:30 and thought we were going to have to wait, seated within minutes. Food came out hot and quickly. Probably the best sopapiallas I have ever had. Green chile sauce was delish.

Based on other trip advisor reviews we stopped! We were pleased! I had "Jerry's special"! A hamburger steak with red and green chili sauce! So great and so different then anything I have ever had! My mom's grilled veggie sandwich was also incredible! Worth the stop! (To add to the experience we even were approached by native Americans selling jewelry!)... More

1960's style family diner with great American and Mexican food. Friendly service, good food and reasonably priced. Historic downtown Gallup. Love it!

Jerry's is a well established very small local Mexican restaurant located on a side street. It is worth seeking out. They are closed on Sundays, and do not open until 8 AM on other days. Parking is on the street, but not a problem. Clientele is local working class, plus a few knowledgeable travelers. The decor is very simple, and... More

Hailed as traditional New Mexican local food, we had to try Jerry's. Came away disappointed. The chicken enchilada tasted fowl, no pun intended. The sopapillas were very thick and doughy. The refrieds were dry and pasty. The small black hair in my green chile sauce was easy to extract but not very appetizing. I either don't appreciate New Mexican food... More

I was in Gallup tonight looking for a local place to eat. I drove by Jerry's with its great neon sign and the place was packed. I went back was it was a bit quieter and had a steak burrito. It was actually a piece of thin (not that thin) steak in a flour tortilla, It was well-seasoned and very... More

Passing through Gallup on a long two-day drive had us looking for a good, satisfying bite to eat that both us and our kids would eat. Seeing the awesome reviews this place had previously, we headed off the beaten path to Jerry's. Husband and I ordered beef burritos and the kids ordered corn dogs. The food was absolutely amazing; it... More

We were traveling through Gallup and asked for the best Mexican food in town. We were directed to Jerry's Cafe. This place is set up like an old time diner. Lots of booths of various sizes, but no tables. The food is second to none. Authentic Mexican food. Not the chain restaurant style. Not Tex-Mex. REAL Mexican food. The sopapillas... More
