So-so...

Hailed as traditional New Mexican local food, we had to try Jerry's. Came away disappointed. The chicken enchilada tasted fowl, no pun intended. The sopapillas were very thick and doughy. The refrieds were dry and pasty. The small black hair in my green chile sauce was easy to extract but not very... read more

I was in Gallup tonight looking for a local place to eat. I drove by Jerry's with its great neon sign and the place was packed. I went back was it was a bit quieter and had a steak burrito. It was actually a piece of thin (not that thin) steak in a flour tortilla, It was well-seasoned and very... More

Passing through Gallup on a long two-day drive had us looking for a good, satisfying bite to eat that both us and our kids would eat. Seeing the awesome reviews this place had previously, we headed off the beaten path to Jerry's. Husband and I ordered beef burritos and the kids ordered corn dogs. The food was absolutely amazing; it... More

We were traveling through Gallup and asked for the best Mexican food in town. We were directed to Jerry's Cafe. This place is set up like an old time diner. Lots of booths of various sizes, but no tables. The food is second to none. Authentic Mexican food. Not the chain restaurant style. Not Tex-Mex. REAL Mexican food. The sopapillas... More

This is a great local place to stop on your I-40 road trip. The food is great and the experience of local vendors coming to your table to share you their crafts is pretty cool. It's a tiny cafe though so you might have to wait and big groups won't be easily accommodated.

I have stopped here twice on my way through NM. There are plenty of roadside, chain brand restaurants on the 40. Don't stop at these! Take the time to go downtown and eat at Jerry's. It's authentic NM food at it's best. The place is small and quaint to you may have to wait a bit, don't panic...The enchiladas with... More

Locals love this place. Not my favorite. The rice was overcooked and almost ketchup-y. The cheese in enchiladas, rellenos is the yellow, flavorless, greasy slickness kind that is popular in Gallup restaurants. No reason to go back.

This is the best meal I have had in Gallup. The staff is amazing and very attentive, the owner gets out and mingles, and the food is delicious. Prices were very reasonable and the serving portions, while huge, are not too much. If you want ambiance, this isn't what you are looking for, if you want great food, you should... More
