Still the best tacos in town!

Another great shrimp tacos lunch! Love the corn tortillas they use. Nicely seasoned. Yum! Have to go back more often! The woman who waits on the table makes the food too. She is always friendly.

We were excited to try this place, but after driving around looking for this place we discovered that it was closed when we finally found it. Place seemed to be in a rough section of town and we were not impressed.

We came here because of the reviews that they had on tripadvisor! Being raised in New Mexico the chile taste like if they got it out of the store in the frozen section. I didnt like how they used a microwave to heat up the food.. like if the food wasnt fresh and they just slapped it on the plate.... More

Enchilada and tamale filling = peas, carrots, corn, and green beans. How disappointing to drive this far to get Mexican food from a bag of frozen mixed veg. When this happens in Fargo or Amsterdam, I'm not surprised. Although it was very disappointing, the masa and tortillas were tasty enough, as was the green salsa that came with the chips.... More

I was expecting more given the normal good reviews I get on Tripadvisor. This place had one cook, one wait person, and two kids manning the register. Food was average. service slow.

Lite on the masa and very tasty! Enjoyed both the red and green sauces. Buried in a residential area, don't think you're lost. Clean and bright inside and run by a friendly family.

We decided to eat in the town instead of at the chain restaurants near our hotel. El Metate is in a residential area mostly. So, you might think you're lost when you are looking for it. It is pretty spare inside, but it's clean and it wasn't crowded. The waiter was very nice. The food was really good and New... More

It's really hard to say anything positive about a place when it's impossible to get service. I walked in and everyone in the restaurant stared at me. No one offered to seat me, tell me what the process was for obtaining food, or offered any other sort of assistance. After about five uncomfortable minutes of not being acknowledged I decided... ....but I was so wrong! El Metate is the Real McCoy, (or the Real Enchildada). Mmmmm.... SO good! I can't wait to go back again and again and again. My advice? Eat here.
