Located in an interesting area at the west end of town, this place is a true local hangout with good New Mexican food. The rellenos and enchiladas were very good and the chiles flavorful.

Located between a Chinese Massage place and an Adult Bookstore, was definitely off putting. Add to that the constant stream of young kids trying to sell various Native American jewelry, we were leary of this place. But the food was surprisingly good and fairly affordable. Great table service, cashier was very overwhelmed and a bit short with us. Overall, a... More

The hotel clerk recommended Virgie's because it was close to the Hotel. All I can say is that it was average and we will go find a franchise on the next trip. 6 different times we were approached at dinner to purchase jewelry by kids and adults. The location is in West Gallup which appears to be the older section... More

I went to visit my dad and he took me to eat here. I had a Steam burrito that was on the special. It was one of the BEST burritos I've ever had. It had a thin slab of steak in a thick homemade tortilla (Like the ones my grandma made growing up) with that NM chili I've grown to... More

It just wasn't up to our standards.Enchiladas were dry. Sauce was lightweight and not very tasty. The waitress was very friendly & knowledgable.

Just had lunch at recommendation of a local. Chilies rellenos and green chili excellent per my husband. My combination enchilada plate best enchiladas I've had in a long time. Bonus: pictures of Navajo code talkers w/ autographs displayed and was told one of them comes there 3x/ week! Definitely worth the stop! Also on Route 66

Enjoyed lunch here with folks who work in Gallup and thought it the best place to take an out of towner. Just off the highway, and abutting the busy BN&SF RR, Virgies is a landmark. The restaurant feels like Rte 66 vintage, with an adult movie shop on it's west end, and a massage parlor on the east end. There... More

We had the beef burritos which were hot and tasty. Our hotel recommended this place. My only complaint is that children and a older man kept coming from table to table trying to sell jewelry and other trinkets. In the 35-45 minutes we were there, we were approached at least 6 times. Very intrusive as you are enjoying dinner.

I can't complain about the food, I got some good New Mexican food. The service on the other side was terrible, the waitress could not understand our other and once she got it she made fun of my accent (what is with that?) she messed up the bill probably three or four time with no apology. Not a place I... More

We were referred to Virgies by our hotel receptionist as a local's place, perfect for a casual dinner after a long day exploring Petrified Forest National Monument. The place is small, perhaps eight tables, with a bit of Mexican decor. Our server was very attentive and knew the menu well, all with a big smile. Excellent items we enjoyed included... More
